Colorado! May 2009 - January 2010

So one day we got bored of California and we picked up the whole fam and moved out to Colorado for what was initially going to be an indefinite stay. I'll begin by saying the Summer time was great! We rented a huge house on 7 acres of rolling green hills, pine & oak forest and also a few hundred yards of stream-front property. Grassy meadows down by the stream allowed for nice Summer-time picnics and some serious rest & relaxation which was much needed after a few grueling years of monotonous office work & standard Southern California fiascos.

I was able to enjoy the perfect scenario of being able to keep the job that I had in California but work from a laptop from pretty much anywhere that I wanted. I put in hours while on the banks of Lake Powell, in a campground in Moab, hunkered down in KOA cabins across Eastern Colorado, on the road while driving and really anywhere that I wanted! I didn't get sick of it at all. This luxury afforded me & my growing family ample time & opportunities to enjoy not only each other's company but also the sights of majestic places that we had never been to before. It really was a magical time in our lives. My wife even gave birth to our first Son, Logan Avery McCormack (11/28/2009)!!

As soon as the Winter kicked in out there we became 'over it' at an alarming rate! 30 below zero and weeks on end of below freezing temperatures kept us indoors and cabin fevered for the entire month of December - and of course it was the coldest December on the books in Colorado history (since at least the late 1800's)! Average temp for the month was 9 degrees. So after getting in dozens of great trips, we moved right back to good ol SoCal!

Below are some of the great experiences we had out there...
