Have a tighter budget and would like to stay in San Diego?  Try www.san‑diego.us. There are many great places to stay without going over  your budget. San Diego is full of hotels and motels. The closer to the beach the more the money. The Holiday Inn Bayside is one of our favorites.

There's a bay view with lots of boats and water. It's at 4875 N. Harbor Drive San Diego, Ca Call direct at 619-2243621 or 800-6628899. The price is right and a very nice place. The photo below is taken from a room in the Holiday Inn.

Ever think about a hot air balloon ride? There are many to choose from, one of the best is a twilight flight out of Palm Springs. You float south while watching the sunset over the mountains of Southern California and the Salton Sea area. This is an experience you won't forget.

Bed and Breakfast

Southern California Romantic Getaways - Laguna Beach, San Francisco, San Diego, Huntington beach, Catalina Island, Avalon, Napa Valley, Wine Country, Pacific Ocean, Scenic Drives

There are many Bed & Breakfast's in Southern California, some of the great places for Bed & Breakfast's are close to the beach or the mountains. It's a good thing to find out if the inn you select has private baths. A lot of the older ones do not as they are a home and they usually have one bath per floor. You can find Bed & Breakfast's  in most cities. Some, give you a complete breakfast with a type of food that complements the area they are in. Like biscuits and gravy in the mountains and country while having every thing from cereal to omelets closer to big cities and the ocean. Check out the one in La Jolla. It is really nice.  http://www.californiabedbreakfastinns.com

Southern California Romantic Getaways - Laguna Beach, San Francisco, San Diego, Huntington beach, Catalina Island, Avalon, Napa Valley, Wine Country, Pacific Ocean, Scenic Drives

Palm Springs and the local area..
Ride the Palm Springs Tram two and a half miles up in the worlds largest rotating gondola up to great views, no, make that monumental views. There are two restaurants at the top of the tram. One is a café with great food and the other is a dining experience. You can sit by a window looking over the Coachella Valley. Sometimes the air is so clear you can see past Salton Sea. That's over fifty miles. You might need to make reservations at the restaurant. They claim that the temperature  runs about 30 degrees cooler on the top of the mountain so in the summer when it's in the high 90's on the desert floor the top of the mountain runs around 60 or so.
