We like to ride on public buses from time to time but the real enjoyment is trains.
Metrolink
Metrolink has saved many people time and money by giving them relaxing
transportation to and from work. This is good for them but fun for us as it is a way to see areas is Southern California that we don't get to see very often plus taking us to great locations. We like to take the Metrolink to L.A. and get off at the Union Station and walk across the street to Olvera Street to get some great tacos. The best time to get on a commuter train is just after morning rush hour and when returning, just before the afternoon rush hour. That way you will have a good chance to get a window seat. The Los Angeles Subway is a super way to get to Hollywood and other places quickly (Yes, L.A. has a subway; many people do not know that).
Passengers must have a valid ticket prior to boarding the train. Tickets are not sold on board. Tickets may be purchased at the self-serve vending machine located at each station with cash, ATM, Visa or MasterCard. The Coast Express Rail
This great mode of transportation called the Coaster operates between Oceanside and San Diego Monday through Saturday, except on the following holidays: New Year Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

San Diego Trolley
The San Diego Trolley operates 2 lines 7 days a week. The first is the Blue line that operates from the Mexican border north through downtown to Old Town and into Mission Valley to Qualcomm Stadium.
