Chapter 1528 - 1013: Leaving
"Finally, home again. I’ve been feeling so cooped up these days." Three days after leaving the hospital, Chuxia felt a lot more at ease the moment she stepped into the house.
"Quick, get inside and lie down..." Zhao Yulan led her daughter towards the bedroom, "Try to stay off your feet until the month’s up. If you develop any issues now, you might not feel it while you’re young, but when you get older, you’ll regret it."
"Mom..." Chuxia looked at her mother with an expression of resignation, "Director Qiao said I’ve made an excellent recovery, and I can do some moderate activities after returning home."
"Well, discuss that in a few days." Zhao Yulan glared at her daughter, "I listen to you for everything else, but for this, you have to listen to me. If you don’t believe me, ask Grandma and Great-grandma, and you’ll see if I’m right or not."
Old Madam Zhou quickly chimed in, "Chuxia, listen to your mother. Go inside and rest. Let Xiaomi chat with you, and once he leaves, I’ll keep you company. And there’s Great-grandma, your mom, your mother-in-law..."
Listening to Old Madam Zhou list out a long lineup of companions, Chuxia felt a little overwhelmed. Did she really seem like a child who needed such supervision to her?
"Come on." Zhou Mikang chuckled, rubbing her head, "In matters like this, the elders have experience. Trust them; it’s really for your benefit, besides, a month goes by quite fast."
"I bet it feels fast because you don’t have to be cooped up every day..." she grumbled softly, yet her actions were compliant as Zhou Mikang led her into the room, arm around her shoulder.
The two babies were being held by the two grandaunts, and the others wisely stayed out, leaving the bedroom for the couple alone.
"Going back today?" Sitting against the cushion on the bed, Chuxia looked at Zhou Mikang and asked, a hint of reluctance in her eyes. Seeing this softened Zhou Mikang’s heart completely, prompting him to affectionately pull her into his embrace, "I’ll head back this afternoon. I’ll try to finish up my work quickly so I can spend more time with you during this period."
Knowing how busy he was, Chuxia didn’t want him to be constantly exhausted, so she said, "You don’t have to always worry about me; your work is important. Besides, there are enough people here to keep me company. Just remember to call me every day, that’s all."
"Spending time with my wife and son counts as important work too. Don’t worry, I’m healthy enough, you don’t need to worry about me. But as for you, if there’s ever a disagreement with the elders regarding your views, don’t stress over it.
Although sometimes they might be overly cautious, they’re all people who’ve gone through this themselves. It’s precisely because they’ve experienced hardships that they don’t want you to go through the same.
As for foreign moms running around after childbirth, it doesn’t apply to you. Think about it, they’ve done it for generations, their bodies have adapted.
Our Chinese people, on the other hand, have practiced postpartum confinement for generations, and our bodies have naturally adapted to it. If you go against this, you’ll definitely suffer for it in the future."
"I understand." Chuxia gazed at him amusedly, "I was just joking around. You think I’m really silly enough to run off to school? Besides, I’m just not used to being shut inside all of a sudden, I’ll adjust in a few days."
"As for the little ones, if you don’t feel like looking after them, you don’t have to. The elders and the nanny are here. Wait until you feel ready, then you can have them with you, alright?"
"Uh..." Chuxia stared speechlessly at Zhou Mikang. She simply wasn’t used to being a mom yet, it’s not that she was rejecting the little ones. The babies are newborns; how could they not be by their mother’s side? If she really did that, her Great-grandma and mom might not say anything, but what about her mother-in-law and grandma?
Even if they adore her, if they misunderstood that she didn’t care for their grandchildren or great-grandchildren, they would still feel unhappy. As helpless as she might feel, she wouldn’t ever do that.
Seeing her thoughts, Zhou Mikang explained with a smile, "Don’t worry, I’ll explain it to Grandma and Mom, so they won’t overthink it. Besides, it’s completely normal for someone at your age to not feel fully comfortable with the role of a mom.
If it weren’t for me, for the Zhou family, you wouldn’t have to have children so early. Since you’ve sacrificed so much for the Zhou family, naturally, the Zhou family has to understand you.
Chuxia, I’m not just saying this to make you feel good, I truly believe it. Whatever happens, don’t make yourself uncomfortable, and as for handling relationships with the Zhou family, don’t worry, I’ve got it covered."
Having a husband who considers everything for her is indeed a very fortunate thing, but that doesn’t mean she can ignore everything else because of it.
