Adventure City Stanton

Most of the fifteen rides at this Southern California Fun Place are built with the kids in mind. They have a children’s theater, arts and crafts and a petting zoo. The rides can take adults as well. 1238 South Beach Blvd, Stanton (714) 236- 9300

Balboa Fun Zone

Located at the west side of the Balboa Ferry. 600 East Bay Ave. (949) 673-0408 There are lots of things to do for the kids and many food concessions.

Belmont Park San Diego

Located at 3146 Mission Blvd, Mission beach (858) 488-1549 This park has one of the old style wooden Roller Coasters. Wood Roller Coasters give one a ride that is not forgotten. Because of the limits of wood, wooden roller coasters (in general) will not turn upside down or have very steep drops etc. The coaster gives a super view of parts of San Diego when you reach the pinnacle of this great Roller Coaster, but you probably won’t have the time to look. There are lots of things to do in the park like laser tag and a wave machine plus a bunch of other great and fun rides. The Midway has tons of games and shops including a exciting arcade. There are many good places to eat, order out or sit in. By the way the fish tacos are the best in San Diego.

California Adventure Anaheim

This is located next door to Disneyland, in fact you can take the same tram from the parking lot to go to either park. The California Adventure is the newest theme park in Southern California. Three different themed lands enhance this fun park. The largest is Hollywood Pictures Back Lot. This area holds many fun and interesting things to see and do. We ate in the ABC Soap Opera Bistro, along with some great food and drink (yes there is alcohol), try the Jambalaya, it is spicy and good. During your meal aspiring actors and actresses act out scenes by your table from soap Operas and they some times involve you in their scene. It’s fun for all. There is much more to see here.

Next is the Golden State area. There are lots of things to do and eat here. Don’t miss the Bug 3D Adventure show or the Golden Dreams show. Go in to the Mission Tortilla factory and get a corn tortilla. You get to see how they are made. It will melt in your mouth.

Next is Paradise Pier. This looks like Coney Island pier and has some great rides and food areas. The roller coaster is fast and wild. Try the Sun Wheel; it’s not your typical Ferris wheel. This area has many things to do and eat also. Ball road off the 5 freeway in Anaheim will get you to the parking area. (714) 781-4565

Castle Park Riverside

Castle Park was founded in 1976 and has been expanding ever since. The park includes a full amusement ride park featuring 27 rides suitable for all ages, four championship miniature golf courses, midway games, Buccaneer Cove water playground, retail shops, and a large video arcade, along with party locations such as the Big Top Circus themed facility and the outdoor picnic facility, great for company outings.

Our new water play area, Buccaneer Cove will open for the season on May 19th. Buccaneer Cove is Castle Park’s 20,000 square foot water play structure. It includes five colorful water slides, wet water tunnels, interactive aqua domes, fun spray cannons, spray loops and cylinder spray fountains and a huge splash bucket located at the top of the structure. Access to Buccaneer Cove is included with all paid admission tickets!

Disneyland Anaheim

Called the Happiest Place on Earth with great rides, fun shows, great shops and tasty food. We try to get to Disneyland as often as we can. The park is especially fun at Christmas time. If you can get there on the day before Christmas the park is not so busy and you can get to the ride of your choice quickly. They have just finished revamping the Autopia. The cars are better looking and the whole area is more fun. Our choice of rides it the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Just when you think the ride is over it climbs another hill for more thrills. The Haunted Mansion is always a great ride, in the summer it offers a cool respite from the heat of the day. The Indiana Jones Adventure is super especially if you get to drive. Splash Mountain is always great. If you visit the Walt Disney Story and the Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, you will have one of the best experiences at the park. After you get to see the actual offices of Walt Disney and other memorabilia, you enter the theater with the Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln. They have refurbished the show and its better then ever. You are handed stereo ear phones and sit in plush seats and you will enjoy. The stereo will put you in the story so real that you will look over your shoulder to see if some one is talking to you. Try the pot roast at the Plaza restaurant. It’s always great plus you get a great place to sit and view the park while eating.

Try the Monte Cristo sandwich at the Blue Bayou restaurant. You can sit in serene surroundings while watching the Pirates of the Caribbean boats float by full of smiling people. You can wave at them as they float by but you might feel embarrassed if they don’t wave back. We wave anyway. Go early and walk to frontier land, then stay to your left until you see the Golden Horseshoe Saloon. Make reservations for a show later in the day. The show is a lot of fun and you get off your feet for a while. The food at the show is pretty good to. Ball road off the 5 freeway in Anaheim will get you to parking area. Knott’s Berry Farm Buena Park

The buildings in Knott’s ghost town have been brought there from real ghost towns and mining areas. Shows, rides and food. The rides are great, the Wild West stunt show is tops. Don’t forget to try the parachute ride. When you do, look around when you get to the top, you can see forever. Try the new roller coaster it’s called the Ghost Rider. It was rated number two, best roller coaster in the world! Camp Snoopy is a place for kids and Parents alike. Knott’s is 150 acres of super rides, outstanding live entertainment, exciting attractions, fascinating historic exhibits plus one of a kind specialty shops. Try the water ride called “Perilous Plunge” or better yet, stand on the bridge that it goes under, that’s if you want to get wet. I don’t know why you would want to do that but it’s your choice. In the summer the bridge gets soaked when the ride hits the water below. The Perilous Plunge is called the tallest, steepest and wettest ride ever. The water raft ride, Big Foot Rapids, is great but we think it’s more fun to stand at one of the observation areas and watch the some of the people get wet and some of the people get really wet. If you walk though the old ghost town, check out the guy in sitting just inside the window of a building. Next to it on the left is a path going back to a little jail. If you give the name of your friends or kids to the guy at the window he will talk to them though a speaker from the jail. Don’t let then see you do this and they will wonder how the jail knew their name. They will never know if you don’t tell them. Try the Chicken Dinner restaurant, if you love great country chicken and don’t leave without having a piece of Knott’s Boysenberry pie. Go early to Knott’s as nightfall the park gets somewhat busy. Beach & Lincoln Streets Buena Park (714) 220 5200 www.Knotts.com

Sea World San Diego

This is one of the largest marine-life fun parks. Sitting on 100 acres, Sea World brings sea creatures up close and personal for all ages. Food fun and a lot of sea creatures. Try the water ride there is a chance you can get wet. You get to pet some great sea specimens. The shark tank is tremendous, seeing sharks face to face is a wonder to behold. We like the stunt show also. Try the Wild Arctic attraction, it’s the newest and we think the best experience you will have. Don’t forget to see the tide pools also. They have a behind the scene tour that’s well worth the small extra fee. From interstate 5 take Sea World Drive San Diego (619) 226-2901 www.Seaworld.com

Universal Studios Hollywood Universal City

Rides, shows and shops enhance your visit. The city walk is something to see also. Close to the front of the park you can buy a large character-drinking mug then refill it all day at a small cost. Sometimes you will see an employee with a clipboard just inside the main gate. She asked us if we wanted to participate in a survey. We told her we would and she asked us a few short questions about our visit there. After interviewing us she gave my wife and I, a pass to get of the tram ride ahead of the normalcrowd. This saved us a lot of time. You might look for him or her. The tram ride is the highlight of the day. You get to ride though real sets that you might remember as your favorite movie or television show. The stunt show is not to be missed. Get there early and get a goodseat. Some of the lower seats are splash zones and they are marked as such. If you don’t want to get wet, sit higher. Don’t miss the Jurassic Park ride. There is a good restaurant at the start of the Jurassic ride on the right. It’s like a cafeteria but the food is fairly priced and very good. 101 Freeway take Universal City Plaza.
