Chapter 370 — What a Creep!
Chapter 370 — What a Creep!
Stepping out of the room, Enzo ran a hand through his hair. The tip of his cane struck the floor with each step, the rhythmic sound drawing the attention of passing servants. Yet he paid them no mind.
His thoughts remained trapped inside that room. The conversation that ended without a conclusion. The look Zayden had given him, filled with hatred. It stung his heart.
Had I known you didn’t know about Ren, I would have told you...
The thought repeated itself over and over again. He bit down on his lower lip anxiously. The more he thought about it, the worse he felt.
He couldn’t even deny that he was guilty. Guilty of betrayal, even if it was a mistake he made unknowingly.
"I don’t want to see your face again." Zayden’s earlier words echoed through his mind, along with the expression on his face.
Enzo’s shoulders began to tremble. Soon, tears rolled down his cheeks despite his efforts to hold them back. His vision blurred, making it difficult to see where he was going. He wiped them off quickly but they ran like an unstoppable river whose duty was merely to flow despite all the barricades used to stop it.
As a result, he barely noticed the figure standing in front of him until a voice suddenly interrupted his thoughts.
"Are you alright?" The question was gentle, careful and filled with worry.
The man reached out as though intending to place a hand on Enzo’s shoulder.
The omega immediately swatted it away. His reaction was instinctive.
The alpha before him was the same man who had insisted on accompanying him to the capital. As though that were not enough, he had also followed him all the way to Zayden’s quarters despite repeatedly being told not to.
"Woah!" The man immediately raised both hands in surrender. "I apologize. I didn’t mean anything by it. I was simply wondering why you’re crying. Did the Imperial General yell at you?"
"Don’t act as though you weren’t eavesdropping and don’t know anything." Enzo scoffed.
The accusation made the alpha blink.
"No, I wasn’t—"
"I don’t care," Enzo’s voice cracked. More tears slipped down his cheeks, refusing to obey him.
No matter how hard he tried to stop them. No matter how desperately he wished they would simply disappear.
Freeze in place.
Spare me this humiliation.
"Just leave me alone," The words came out weaker than he intended.
For a moment, the alpha simply stood there. Then, unexpectedly, he let out a quiet sigh.
"You know," he said softly, lowering his hands, "for someone who constantly tells me to leave, you seem remarkably bad at actually getting rid of me."
Here’s a corrected version that keeps your paragraph style, banter, and Enzo’s irritation:
Enzo shot him a glare through tear-filled eyes.
Unfortunately, the effect was somewhat ruined by the fact that he was crying.
The alpha looked away for a moment, clearly trying—and failing—not to smile.
Which only irritated Enzo further.
"Get out of here," he said coldly.
"That’s a little harsh," Sam stretched the corner of his lips into a faint grin.
"I mean it."
The alpha nodded thoughtfully.
"Mm. I will. I only came to report to the Imperial Crown Prince about you and your friend."
For the first time since leaving Zayden’s room, genuine disbelief flashed across Enzo’s face. And somehow, that reaction alone was enough to distract him from his tears, if only for a moment.
"Why would you do that?" he demanded, staring at Sam as though he were the criminal here.
The other man chuckled and shook his head.
"I believe I am under no obligation to answer that question. Besides..." A faint smile tugged at the corner of his lips. "If I tell you the reason, I fear you will lose what little interest you have in me."
"I don’t have any interest in you to begin with," Enzo replied with a roll of his eyes, quickly looking away. Taking advantage of the moment, he wiped the remaining tears from his cheeks before the alpha could notice them.
Sam raised an eyebrow.
"Is that so?"
"Yes."
"That’s unfortunate."
Enzo frowned.
"What is?"
"I was beginning to think you hated me less than before."
The omega stared at him for a moment before letting out an exasperated sigh.
"You truly enjoy hearing yourself speak, don’t you?"
"No," Sam answered without missing a beat. "I simply enjoy speaking to you."
Enzo immediately regretted asking.
Without another word, he turned on his heel and resumed walking down the corridor, his cane tapping sharply against the floor.
Behind him, Sam’s quiet laughter echoed through the hallway.
For some reason, that only made Enzo walk faster.
What a creep!
All alphas were creeps. Every last one of them.
Well... perhaps not every one.
His steps slowed slightly.
Only Zayden had never made him uncomfortable.
The realization struck him so suddenly that his chest tightened. Enzo immediately frowned.
Why was he even thinking about him now?
His grip around the cane tightened. He had already accepted reality a long time ago.
Zayden had never looked at him the way he once hoped he would. Whatever feelings Enzo had carried in the past should have disappeared by now.
So why was he still comparing everyone to him? Why did every alpha inevitably end up being measured against a standard none of them knew existed?
His heart sank.
The answer was so obvious that it annoyed him.
Because despite everything he had told himself, despite all the years that had passed, a part of him had never truly let go.
He had simply learned how to live with it.
"Gods..." he muttered under his breath. "I was over him... What’s wrong with me?"
If Yusha heard him thinking such things, the omega would undoubtedly scold him for dwelling on the past again. And he would deserve it.
After all, Zayden had a family.
A child.
People who loved him.
Yet the memory of a youthful affection stubbornly refused to disappear from Enzo’s side.
The omega lowered his gaze to the floor, watching the tip of his cane strike the stone with every step.
If this keeps going, I’m not going to be over him in a thousand years...
The thought was so ridiculous that he almost laughed. Instead, he released a long sigh and continued walking.
Behind him, Sam was still following. The realization immediately soured his mood again.
Perhaps all alphas really were creeps.
