Chapter 503: Star Chamber & Talent Genes
Chapter 503: Star Chamber & Talent Genes
Though Liora could make an educated guess, she had no way of knowing what was truly happening within the Information World, let alone that the War God had discovered an abnormality during the investigation of her background.
She had always been careful in the past.
Knowing that this world was bound to possess advanced surveillance methods and possibly be able to detect her, she had concealed her identity as an Outworld Invader extremely well.
Even when she went out to hunt demons or achieved a breakthrough, she would employ her World of Heart to conceal everything about her, masking herself as an ordinary Awakener.
The Information World was indeed of a higher level than her World of Heart and should have been able to see through its illusions.
However, the size of the Information World was truly enormous.
Its power was spread throughout the Human Federation and even the entire world, decreasing the power of each individual node.
On the other hand, Liora did not have such high requirements for her World of Heart.
She only needed it to hide her abnormalities and fabricate a fake identity.
The result was as expected. No one had suspected her true identity so far.
"It’s here...", Liora muttered as she placed her student identification document on the technological scanner hanging beside the door.
A beam of light swept across the document before turning green.
"Authentication Check... Detected War Academy Student: Liora Augustus."
"Testing for Authority Level... Passed."
"Testing for Contribution Points... 500,000 Contribution Points have been deducted from your account."
"Ding! You have ten days of access to the Star Chamber!"
The moment the final sentence fell, the door of the chamber swung open. A gust of wind came from inside, as if inviting Liora to step in.
She didn’t hesitate.
With a step forward, she entered the chamber while the metal door behind her closed on its own.
The chamber was vast, but mostly empty.
Only a blue rhombus-shaped object was floating in the air at its very center, pulsating eerily as if following a strange rhythm.
Its vibration seemed to resonate with the world around it.
The surrounding Cosmic Energy surged and grew in volume, as if the room had turned into a black hole that devoured everything around it.
The Cosmic Energy was usually colorless and immaterial.
Yet, Liora quickly realized that this was not necessarily the case within the Star Chamber.
Puddles of azure liquid could be seen across the floor, while a blue, ethereal mist covered the air, as though she had stepped into a starry sky.
The Cosmic Energy within the chamber was thousands of times denser than that of the outside world!
This comparison was not in regard to an ordinary planet like the Nova Terra Planet, but with the War Academy.
If an ordinary person were to stay in the chamber, they wouldn’t need to practice any techniques. Just a few days of idling around could naturally elevate them to Rank 1 Awakeners.
"In the information given by the War Academy, the Star Chamber is said to have been created using the hearts of dying stars. With special methods and exquisite refinement, the Star Heart was transformed into a Cosmic Energy generator, constantly ’running’ and attracting Cosmic Energy."
As she was thinking, Liora’s gaze lingered on the rhombus for a few seconds before she finally took her seat.
She wasted no time.
Her Domain instantly unfolded with her as the center. She didn’t use her entire strength, but merely urged its Fire Element aspect.
The floating Cosmic Energy seemed to have found an outlet.
It poured into the Domain and followed their connection to flow in Liora’s body, drilling into her cells and helping them evolve.
Liora’s eyes narrowed as she watched this process.
Moments later, she shook her head.
"The effect of a single Domain absorbing Cosmic Energy is far weaker than my self-created Cosmic Devouring Technique. In fact, even the real Four Elements Domain is far less efficient.", she judged.
Even so, a faint smile remained on her face.
The reason she had entered the Star Chamber was not to absorb Cosmic Energy.
Rather, she wanted to give other people the idea that this was her purpose.
"A Domain can help an Awakener absorb Cosmic Energy, thus speeding up their rate of progress. For an ordinary Awakener, they would have to spend months, if not years, to go from Rank 1 to Rank 4."
"But for a genius who has awakened a Domain, possesses an SS-Rank talent, and has access to the dense Cosmic Energy of the Star Chamber, it would only take a few days.", Liora deduced as she deactivated the Domain, letting it disperse.
The next instant, she relaxed her suppression over the Cosmic Devouring Technique, allowing it to absorb the Cosmic Energy in its stead.
A cooling sensation immediately spread throughout her body.
Her cells appeared to have received the nourishment they had always lacked, jumping in life level and adjusting her physical structure on a micro level.
Unfortunately, no qualitative transformation occurred.
Liora was hardly surprised. This had been the case since her last advancement to Rank 4.
No matter how much Cosmic Energy she devoured, she was unable to make any progress. At most, she could enhance her physical strength.
This indeed improved her combat prowess. However, it was not what she was seeking.
Thankfully...
"The Elemental World technique has already paved the way for me. With my Domain awakened, this world can no longer restrict me to Rank 4."
Upon that thought, Liora activated her many talents.
Her entire body lit up, as though she had transformed into a light bulb.
Though each talent was only represented through a single spot of light, or more specifically, a gene, Liora had accumulated several talents using Predation.
Most of them were currently weak and could not provide her much help, but their sheer number was enough to make the scene look astonishing.
Two lights were the brightest among the rest.
One was dark, representing her actual talent, Predation, while the other had the hue of four colors, being her SS-Rank Elemental Affinity.
Although Liora had comprehended the Elemental World technique and thus enhanced the power of the second talent, Predation’s brilliance overwhelmed it with ease.
"The gap between an SSS-Rank talent and an SS-Rank one is already massive. The gap between an SSS-Rank talent and the Rank beyond it is even more extraordinary.", Liora judged.
Since Elemental Affinity was only at SS-Rank at the moment, the difference was obvious at a glance.
But this was enough for Liora. She didn’t focus on the Predation talent.
Instead, the rest of her talents receded back into her body with a thought, leaving only the light representing the Elemental Affinity.
Her expression grew solemn. Her consciousness swept out and concentrated on the light, peering deep into its very essence.
