Chapter 614: The Woman Who Seeks Thrills
Chapter 614: The Woman Who Seeks Thrills
Although Qin Qing’s Martial Artist strength was still at the level of an Eighth Grade Grandmaster, her Medicine King Valley Life Totem had already unlocked its Second Stage. This meant Qin Qing now truly possessed the strength of a Third Realm War God. A stone thrown with her full might would have the force of a cannonball!
"Holy shit!"
At that moment, the helicopter pilot and the two Martial Artists aboard were mockingly watching Qin Qing and Leng Yue on the mountaintop. They were thinking the women were already in their grasp and that they were about to accomplish a great feat.
Then they saw Qin Qing hurl a large stone at them.
"Holy shit, holy shit! Jump!"
"What is this woman thinking?! Who attacks a helicopter with a rock?!" The two Martial Artists scrambled to jump from the aircraft, but it was already too late!
BOOM!
The stone precisely struck the helicopter’s rotor, instantly snapping one of the blades. The helicopter immediately plunged into a nosedive...
"Now they can only chase us on foot, and you don’t have to reveal your true strength," Qin Qing remarked with a laugh, clapping her hands.
Leng Yue was utterly dumbfounded. Young Mistress, what kind of reasoning is that?! To actually think of knocking down a helicopter with a stone!
"What are you spacing out for? Let’s go!" Qin Qing prompted.
"Oh, right," Leng Yue replied.
The two continued their advance toward Sword Burial Peak.
Because it had been flying at a low altitude, the helicopter didn’t explode when it plunged downward. Instead, it crashed headfirst into a mud pit.
"After them! Quick!" one of the Martial Artists yelled as they crawled, disheveled, from the mire.
"The pilot is still inside," the other said.
"Let him die!"
Covered in mud, the two Martial Artists scrambled at full speed to the small hilltop where Qin Qing and Leng Yue had been, only to despair. On the other side of the hill was a dense forest. They had completely lost track of their targets!
With no other choice, the two fired a signal flare and reported Qin Qing and Leng Yue’s direction over their walkie-talkies. Only then did they descend into the dense forest to begin a blind search.
Upon seeing the flare and learning of Qin Qing and Leng Yue’s route, all the pursuers, including Xue Man and An Bai, sprinted at full speed toward Sword Burial Peak.
"You don’t think they’re actually heading for Sword Burial Peak, do you?" Xue Man wondered aloud as she ran.
"I hope so!" An Bai laughed. "If they go to Sword Burial Peak, we won’t have to chase them anymore. They’ll be as good as dead."
Xue Man nodded. "To reach Sword Burial Peak, they must first enter the Abandoned City. It’s crawling with Mutated Beasts. There’s no way they can make it to the peak alive."
Suddenly, both of them found themselves hoping that Qin Qing and Leng Yue were indeed heading for Sword Burial Peak.
「At 3:07 PM.」
Qin Qing and Leng Yue came upon a dilapidated road overgrown with weeds.
"That’s strange. Why is there a road out here in the deep wilderness?" Qin Qing wondered.
"Who cares? Let’s just follow it. It’s much easier than scaling mountains and crossing ridges," Leng Yue said.
"Alright!"
The two sped along the road, their pace increasing considerably. By four o’clock in the afternoon, they discovered the road ended at a tunnel that had been completely blocked off.
"This mountain is so tall," Qin Qing despaired.
The mountain where the tunnel was located was over a hundred meters high and part of an east-west mountain range. This meant they had to climb over it to reach the other side and continue toward Sword Burial Peak.
"We’ve come this far; we can’t give up now. Besides, we have nowhere else to go," Leng Yue said.
"Then let’s climb!" Qin Qing replied with a grin.
They had been on the run since the previous day and were utterly exhausted. However, Leng Yue noticed that although Qin Qing was tired, her eyes sparkled with excitement, as if she was relishing the thrill of the chase.
It seems the Young Mistress has a taste for excitement in her bones, Leng Yue thought to herself.
The two ran to the foot of the mountain and began their ascent. The mountain wasn’t steep, but it was covered in thorns and briars, which greatly hindered their climbing speed. However, they eventually reached the summit.
"This is..."
The moment they arrived at the top, they were stunned by the scene on the other side. Below them lay a huge, abandoned city, likely the size of an entire county. It seemed to have been deserted for a very long time, as it was overgrown with weeds and lay in ruins. Moreover, countless large and varied animals roamed within its walls. As for Sword Burial Peak, it stood tall right in the center of the Abandoned City.
"This looks like an abandoned city used to imprison beasts," Qin Qing deduced.
"I can feel that the animals inside are very strong," Leng Yue said in astonishment. "Look, Young Mistress! There are wolves as big as oxen and wild boars as tall as horses! It’s incredible!"
"If we want to get to Sword Burial Peak, we’ll have to face the animals in that city," Qin Qing said, troubled.
Leng Yue thought for a moment. "I should ask the Young Master first." She then took out the Stone Mirror and described the scene within the Abandoned City to Ye Xiu.
"The animals around the Extreme Abyss in Medicine King Valley have all mutated, growing much larger than their normal counterparts," Ye Xiu explained. "I’ve always suspected that spiritual energy has been leaking from the Extreme Abyss. This energy is likely toxic, causing these mutations in the surrounding animals and humans. The Eternal Islands have possessed spiritual energy for countless years, yet you never saw any large beasts on Biluo Island. This must mean the Eternal Kingdom rounded up all the mutated, aggressive beasts and imprisoned them here in this Abandoned City."
Leng Yue asked, "So, should the Young Mistress and I still proceed to Sword Burial Peak?"
Ye Xiu replied, "Go ahead. Inside the Abandoned City, you don’t need to hide your strength. However, try to avoid killing the more powerful beasts. This will prevent the Eternal Kingdom from deducing your strength from their cause of death."
Leng Yue replied, "Understood," then turned to Qin Qing. "Let’s go. The Young Master has given us permission to head to Sword Burial Peak."
Qin Qing nodded, and they immediately began their descent.
In truth, Ye Xiu’s main reason for sending them to Sword Burial Peak was to use the powerful beasts in the Abandoned City to hold off their pursuers.
***
Ye Xiu had just put away the Stone Mirror when he received a call from Gong Jin.
"Our intelligence agents have found Kristina."
Ye Xiu’s eyes lit up. "Where?"
"In the Bamboo Forest, not far from where the thousand-man brigade was wiped out. She bought a tent and seems to be planning to stay there for a while."
Ye Xiu was startled for a moment before he understood Kristina’s intentions. This little girl might not be old, but she’s certainly cunning!
"Send me the location."
As he spoke, Ye Xiu ran to the backyard of the Wu Family estate, where a helicopter had long been on standby. Upon receiving the location from Gong Jin, the helicopter took off. It quickly arrived over the Bamboo Forest where Kristina was hiding.
At that moment, Kristina was sitting by her tent, boredly swatting mosquitoes. Her bare arms and legs, exposed by her short-sleeved T-shirt, were covered in mosquito bites.
Suddenly, she heard the sound of a helicopter.
"Ah, they found me!"
Forgetting about her tent and belongings, Kristina took off running. She had been having too much fun and didn’t want Ye Xiu to find her so quickly.
However, she hadn’t run more than a few meters when Ye Xiu descended from the sky, blocking her path.
"You..."
Before Kristina could finish her sentence, Ye Xiu pinned her to the ground and began to spank her.
"You little rascal! For a full day and night, so many people have been working themselves to the bone looking for you, tired as pack mules! Can’t you ever give your elders a moment’s peace?"
