Chapter 7 The Lost Dragon Tear Pendant
Chapter 7 The Lost Dragon Tear Pendant
The object fell to the ground, catching the sunlight and flashing a dazzling golden-blue luster.
Roger paused for a moment, then quickly bent down to pick it up.
I carefully held the pendant in my palm, and a warm, gentle sensation spread from my hand throughout my body, like holding a hand warmer.
This is an exquisitely crafted pendant, roughly the size of half an adult man's palm. It is flawlessly polished, with smooth and elegant lines on the gold base.
The back of the pendant is inlaid with an egg-sized gemstone that is completely transparent and gleams with a deep blue light.
This gemstone retained its original, untouched texture. Considering that the technology to synthesize gemstones simply couldn't exist in this world, Roger's breathing quickened, and his heart raced…
The front of the pendant was a gold cover that could be flipped open, fitting perfectly. Roger gently tapped the edge of the cover with his fingertip, and with a soft "click," the gold cover popped open.
Inside the lid is a hand-carved and colored female head, with a touch of Gothic refinement.
The moment Roger saw the woman's portrait, his eyes lit up. The woman looked to be around thirty years old, with gentle eyes and a dignified and elegant demeanor. There was a faint smile on her lips. Even though it was just a still image, it was as if one could hear her soft breathing and feel the warmth of her body. A gentleness that transcended time washed over him.
Roger had never seen the pendant before, nor did he know why it was there.
He subconsciously focused and activated his "Eye of Insight":
【Accessory: The Griffin's Bond】
[Quality: Legendary (Heroic Epic Treasure)]
【Materials: Dragon Tear Gem, various magical materials】
Dragon Tear Gem: "The tears of dragons," a natural vessel for primal magic, and a key for mortals to transcend their limits and access extraordinary power.
"Dragon Tear Gem?"
"It's actually a Dragon Tear Gem?!"
"A treasure that exists only in epic tales of heroes!"
"The only key for mortals to transcend the extraordinary!"
Thinking about the origin and function of the Dragon Tear Gem, Rogue's heart beat even faster.
Legend has it that in ancient times, the elf Arsia experienced the extreme grief of her country being destroyed, her family being destroyed, and her loved ones being lost. The gods could not descend to earth, so they empathized with the deep sorrow through the body of the young dragon Kuaris. The dragon, who was not supposed to shed tears, shed dozens of tears containing the primal power of the dragon race.
"Do dragons really exist in this world? Do gods really exist?"
This world unveiled a mysterious corner to Rogge, like a young girl lifting her skirt, stirring Rogge's heart.
"Will I have the chance to find my way home someday?"
Roger's thoughts were racing, and he unconsciously tightened his grip on the precious object in his hand.
A gust of wind blew by, stirring up a cloud of dust.
Roger jolted awake, snapping out of his daze. Almost reflexively, he quickly hid the gem pendant in his pocket and glanced around instinctively. Seeing that no one was paying attention, he breathed a sigh of relief.
Roger's linen jacket was stolen from the bandits by these civilians, and his first thought was, "The bandits must have gotten this pendant from somewhere."
Then Roger realized that the civilians should have searched their pockets, so the pendant was unlikely to belong to the bandits!
After a moment's thought, he recalled the fine cloth bag that the gaunt knight had tossed to him when he bandaged God and Virgil earlier...
He did notice a bright gold color out of the corner of his eye when he was searching... It must have been at that moment that he was so busy that he didn't notice the pendant slip out of the bag and fall into his linen coat.
Roger was absolutely certain that the pendant belonged to the knight!
As he continued reading, what followed almost made him gasp in surprise.

His abilities were simply phenomenal; in the short few minutes he held the pendant, Roger felt his stamina actually recover...
Remembering the scene when the knight threw the bag to him, Roger hurriedly returned to the spot and searched carefully, but ultimately found no other items.
Realizing the treasure was priceless, Roger's palms were sweaty. The pendant was hidden inside his shirt, and for a moment he was at a loss.
Fate seems to work this way; now that he's traveled through time, Roger can accept even the most bizarre events.
This pendant was a hot potato for Roger, who was currently penniless. He had neither status nor position, and Roger understood better than anyone the principle that possessing a treasure could be a crime.
Pendants should not be easily exposed!
Once someone with ulterior motives discovers that he possesses a Dragon Tear Gem, he won't even know how he died the next moment.
However, only a few people can recognize this treasure. In this world, it is likely that only a tiny group of people at the very top can recognize the Dragon Tear Gem.
After all, a treasure that even kings would fight over is something that ordinary people, and even some minor lords, have probably never even heard of...
Roger secretly breathed a sigh of relief. He would never give up this treasure he had just acquired. He was already planning how to keep it hidden from the world, as long as he kept his mouth shut...
Roger had considered whether to stay where he was and wait for the owner to come back... but he decided against it.
Before he could think further, an old man's aged voice called out from not far away:
"Everyone, come here for a moment! We can't stay here any longer. Let's divide up our belongings so we can all get on our way!"
Roger finally came to his senses, patted the pendant in his pocket again to make sure there was nothing wrong with it, pressed his forearm against the wall to make sure the pendant wouldn't fall off, and jogged a few steps to catch up with Gold and the other man, heading into the crowd.
In the center of the area, several piles of items taken from the bandits were stacked:
There were more than a dozen weapons of varying lengths and styles, mostly rusted, chipped, and dull iron swords and scimitars.
There were also several small shields, some intact, some cracked.
In the most conspicuous place, there was a small pile of various dull and lusterless coins.
There was also a pile of dry food bags and a dozen water bladders and water jugs on the ground.
The old man stood at the front, followed by two men with knives. His face was serious as he looked at the gathering crowd.
"Gentlemen, these things were all taken from those damned bandits..."
Let me make this clear: no one should claim that the goods were stolen from you by bandits. Everyone knows that the people guarding us and the robbers who took the goods were not the same group…”
"We are not those despicable bandits! The knights rescued us not so that we could commit evil deeds."
As the old man spoke, his eyes occasionally swept over God and his two companions, as well as several other men who, relying on their strength, had already chosen weapons to carry.
In this chaotic world, weapons are a person's second life!
Without weapons, one's life is not in one's own hands, so those who obtained weapons in advance were viewed with suspicion by everyone.
Rogge and the others naturally understood the warning in the old man's words, but none of them made a statement. They just stood there quietly, waiting for the old man's next move.
Everyone listened quietly. It was clear that the old man had finally gained the approval of the majority. Under the old man's arrangement, the weapons were given priority to the young people who had not yet received them. Those who had already received their weapons, such as Rogge, no longer participated in the distribution.
Money, food, and water were distributed equally to everyone.
This is the best possible outcome.
Rogge glanced at the white-haired old man with admiration. He had divided the food fairly, leaving most people speechless.
Having just been rescued from suffering, no one wanted to cause trouble again.
Rogge and his two companions each received five dinars, twenty copper coins, and a bag of what was supposedly enough dry rations for three days.
Gripping his still-sharp scimitar tightly, Rogge's eyes gradually hardened. To gain a foothold on this continent, his first priority was to improve his strength and survive in this cannibalistic world!
Rogge eventually accepted Gold's invitation to travel with the two men.
He was all alone, and ultimately could not go far, nor did he have the ability to go far.
Now that we have a better understanding of Gold and the other two, we know that during the recent crisis, they could have simply walked away, but they chose to stay by Roger's side. This commitment to keeping their promise is something we can trust.
If you don't have the ability to survive alone in the wilderness, having a few partners who can help each other is a million times better than groping around in the vast fog alone!
Despite their boundless enthusiasm, the three men, including Gode, were unsure how to take the first step.
Roger secretly touched the griffin pendant in his pocket. This world held so many unknowns, so many that Roger was filled with anticipation for the future. His initial confusion dissipated, and he suddenly made a decision:
First, follow the route the griffin riders took north. If you don't have a destination, then just keep going!
The road is made by walking.
Roger glanced at his two companions, who were scratching their heads in frustration, a confident smile spreading across his face. He slowly began to speak:
"Brothers, a benefactor is likely to be looking for me. It's an opportunity. How about we head north together?"
