Chapter 135 Paying the Bill
Chapter 135 Paying the Bill
"Do you guys have any guesses about tomorrow's Chunin Exams first round of written tests?" Uchiha Ye asked his two teammates while eating breakfast.
"This Chunin Exam is bigger than any previous one, so the difficulty of the questions will likely be much higher," Yamato said first, offering his opinion.
Itachi thought for a moment and carefully spoke, "The difficulty will definitely increase, but I don't think it will be as simple as just solving problems."
"Itachi, I think so too."
"Do you think there will be any other questions besides the ones on the exam paper?"
"For example, I would ask you, in a three-person team, one person must stay behind to attract the enemy, and that person is doomed to die. You are asked to write down the teammate who will attract the enemy, and all three of you must write down the same answer, otherwise the whole team will be eliminated. The teammate whose answer is the same will be the one who is eliminated. If you were in that situation, what would you choose?"
Upon hearing the question, Yamato muttered, "They probably wouldn't ask a question like this!"
Itachi disagreed and said, "I think it's very likely. After all, there are many ninjas participating this time, and they will definitely try to eliminate as many people as possible."
"Alright, alright, let's not worry about whether it will appear or not. Just tell me, what answers will you give for this question?" Uchiha Ye looked at the two of them, waiting for their answers.
"I...I should be able to write my own name." Since both of them are so strong, if that's the case, eliminating the weakest one doesn't seem unreasonable to him.
Yamato looked at Itachi, curious about his answer.
If Itachi put himself in this situation, and asked to sacrifice his teammates for a chance to survive, he wouldn't want to do it, nor would he. He couldn't bear to leave Yoru alone, and sacrificing Yoru would be worse than dying together. So there was only one option: to write nothing.
"I will not write anything!" Itachi said firmly.
"Itachi, did you see this question somewhere before? You just gave the correct answer." A hint of surprise flashed in Uchiha Ye's eyes, but thinking about it, it made sense; Itachi was so smart.
Yamato asked, looking completely bewildered, "How is this the correct answer?"
"Are you stupid? Didn't the question mention that as long as the answers are the same, no one will be eliminated?"
"Moreover, I suspect that the other two people who wrote down their teammates will still be eliminated. After all, how can a team choose to sacrifice their teammates to survive?"
Uchiha Ye explained to Yamato that Yamato was, after all, a ninja from Root. Although he had transferred to the Hokage's direct ANBU and worked with Kakashi for a while, his willingness to sacrifice himself was a significant change.
"It would have been better to just be one person from the start, why bother forming a three-person team?" Yamato muttered somewhat dejectedly.
After finishing breakfast, Uchiha Ye wiped his mouth and invited, "Now that we're full, let's go for a stroll in the streets and experience the local customs and culture of the Land of Iron."
"Okay!" Yamato readily agreed, but suddenly felt a chill run down his spine and quickly changed his mind, "Ah... I suddenly remembered I have something to do, you two go ahead."
Yamato stood up and left immediately. "Kakashi-senpai, it's not that I don't want to help you, it's just that your opponent is too strong."
He still remembers the scene of being controlled by Itachi Uchiha's genjutsu. It was a truly unbearable memory. The worst part was that he didn't feel anything at all and didn't know when he was controlled. That was the most terrifying thing.
"That's weird, what could possibly be going on now?"
"Itachi, let's go!"
Uchiha Ye asked in confusion and then walked into the street.
On the street, she came to a mask stall, picked up an iron mask and held it up, "Itachi, try it on."
"Never mind... I'll put it on for you."
She took a step forward and put the mask on the weasel's face.
"Heh... Itachi, you seem like a mysterious person..."
"I'll try it too." She took one that was about right and put it on her face.
"Itachi, do you not recognize me like this?" She turned around and chuckled at Itachi.
"No, Ye, no matter what you look like, I will recognize you." Itachi stared into her eyes and said with certainty, seeing the lonely figure deep in them.
"Itachi, what are you saying? What if one day..."
Itachi took Yoru's hand and said slowly and deliberately, "There won't be any 'what ifs', I promise."
"I understand." She pulled her hand away from Itachi's, a faint blush rising on her face. Itachi was getting bolder and bolder; with so many people on the street, he didn't even know how to keep a low profile.
Ye left the stall wearing a mask. Itachi paid the money and quickly chased after her, grabbing her hand.
With so many people on the street, Uchiha Ye struggled to break free several times but couldn't, and finally let him lead her.
For the rest of the journey, she bought whatever she liked, and Itachi naturally paid for it—this was the price for openly holding her hand.
Itachi was overjoyed and secretly rejoiced that he had brought enough money with him. After returning from the Chunin Exams, he would dedicate more time to managing more businesses and earning money for Yohana.
"Itachi, I don't want to eat anymore, you can have it." Uchiha Ye had just bought some food, but lost interest after taking only one bite and turned to look at Itachi.
"Um, did she buy that much stuff?" She laughed as she looked at Itachi, who was covered in bags.
She picked up a piece of food and held it to Itachi's mouth. "Itachi, you don't have a spare hand to hold it, let me feed you!"
"Okay." He agreed with a smile, little did he know that his doting attitude towards Ye would soon pay off.
"Itachi, this doesn't taste good, you can have it..."
"Itachi, I'm a little full, I can't eat anymore, you eat..."
"Itachi, this food is so addictive, you should try it..."
"Itachi, this is delicious, you should try it..."
“…”
Seeing Ye buying food again, Itachi felt increasingly full and couldn't eat anymore.
Uchiha Ye took the food offered by the stall owner, stuffed a bite into her mouth, and her eyes suddenly lit up. "This is definitely the best food she has eaten today."
She turned to look at Itachi, "Want to try some? Itachi... he's super delicious."
Itachi wanted to refuse, but when he met her expectant eyes, he couldn't bring himself to say no. "How about we have another one?"
Just as Uchiha Ye was about to feed Itachi, he seemed to spot a familiar face out of the corner of his eye. He skipped over Itachi and ran straight over to him, saying, "Boss Tu, I didn't expect to run into you in the Land of Iron."
"Ye...it's you." Boss Tu's face was full of surprise, and he immediately spoke up, "Ye, you came to the Land of Iron this time to participate in the Chunin Exams, right?"
"Yes, I suppose you're here to do business, Mr. Tu."
"Did you bring any good stuff this time?" Uchiha Ye asked hurriedly.
"Yes, I was just about to put it up when I heard your voice. What a coincidence," said Boss Tu with a smile.
Uchiha Ye's eyes lit up instantly, and he spoke again, "Can I take a look first?"
"Of course, you're a regular customer of mine."
"But we're all so familiar with each other, don't keep calling me Boss Tu. It makes me sound old, and I don't look that old, do I?" Boss Tu said with a relaxed smile.
Upon hearing what Boss Tu said, Uchiha Ye looked him up and down and found that he looked to be about twenty years old, but his mature speech made people subconsciously feel that he was not young.
She said, "Can I call you Brother Tu?"
"Okay." Boss Tu readily agreed upon hearing this.
"Ah..." Now it was Uchiha Ye's turn to be surprised; the agreement was a bit too quick.
