Chapter 388: Associations and Countermeasures Regarding the Death Prophecy!
Chapter 388: Associations and Countermeasures Regarding the Death Prophecy!
Dudley then briefly recounted the whole story to Sirius over the phone, much to Sirius's surprise.
Upon further questioning, the details of how Dudley sent Old Man Duncan to the Black family ancestral home nearly a year ago to ask the house-elf Kreacher for the Slytherin locket were revealed.
Only then did I realize that Sirius Black was only thinking about Harry at that time and had no mind for anything else.
When Kreacher was unwilling to cooperate with Dumbledore, Sirius Black, in his capacity as the current head of the Black family, forcibly ordered Kreacher to cooperate with Dumbledore, without listening to what Kreacher had confessed to Dumbledore.
Afterwards, Sirius didn't ask Kreacher what had happened or what he had said.
After Old Man Dumbledore got the Slytherin locket, he left in a hurry without telling Sirius about Regulus.
And so Sirius remained in the dark until Dudley explained it to him.
Dudley ended his call with Sirius and then teleported to Old Deng to tell him about it.
Old Deng slapped his forehead, apologizing profusely, his face full of shame.
They were also about to head to the seaside cave to retrieve Regulus's body, bring it back, and resurrect Dudley.
Dali ignored whether Old Deng apologized or not, and instead stopped Old Deng, telling him not to take any action.
Because Dudley thought of something else.
Regulus's slumber is the same place where Voldemort hid the Horcruxes in Slytherin's locket.
It was in a seaside cave near the Wu family orphanage where Voldemort had stayed as a child.
The original story describes in detail how the seaside cave, after being magically transformed by Voldemort, became much larger inside.
Inside, there is a small lake with an island in the middle. In the center of the island is a stone platform with a stone basin filled with the potion of despair.
Once, the Slytherin locket was magically hidden within that potion of despair.
That potion of despair cannot be collected, moved, or cleaned up; it keeps generating and automatically replenishing itself.
Trying to retrieve the locket directly from the potion of despair is wishful thinking.
There's only one way to get the Slytherin locket hidden inside: drink it!
Only by drinking it yourself can you gradually remove the Despair Potion, preventing it from replenishing itself temporarily.
Once a person drinks the entire potion of despair, they can obtain the item hidden within it.
But... what kind of good thing could something called a potion of despair be?
Drinking that potion of despair will forcefully recall painful and desperate experiences from one's life in one's mind, while at the same time, the body will suffer extreme pain and damage, which can be described as the ultimate torture.
Without the magical prowess of a legendary wizard, drinking that entire basin of Despair potion would put one's life on a countdown, leaving only a few minutes to live.
When Voldemort designed this mechanism, he never intended for anyone to take his Horcruxes alive.
A dying wizard who has drunk the potion of despair wants to leave the seaside cave, but he still has to deal with thousands of undead hiding in the lakes around the island.
This was an almost impossible task. Regulus was already considered a skilled and excellent wizard, but he still died there and became one of the undead in the lake.
Without the help of Kreacher, the house-elf who could teleport without regard to limitations, Slytherin's locket could not have been taken.
Dali Lenovo's focus was on that small lake where thousands of corpses had been dumped.
Infernals are generally dark magic puppets transformed from Muggle corpses. They are able to remain incorrupt for a long time and can use scratching and biting attacks similar to zombies. They usually win by sheer numbers.
To protect his Horcrux from being stolen, Voldemort killed thousands of Muggles and created the Lake of the Infernal.
The Yin Corpse Lake is called Corpse Lake, isn't that reasonable?
Dudley had only heard the term "corpse lake" a few days ago!
Just recently, when Dudley was about to go with Harry and Dumbledore to resurrect their loved ones, Professor Trelawney suddenly went crazy on the playground and made a prophecy about Death.
Old Deng was so frightened that he almost gave up his idea of resurrecting his relatives.
The prophecy said that resurrecting the dead was against the law, and that Death would come looking for trouble, coming from a very, very secret place to the world of the living, where he would clash with Dudley, who was also against the law, on the Lake of Corpses.
Is the lake of corpses mentioned in the prophecy the same as the small lake of corpses in the cave by the sea?
If so, then if Dudley doesn't go to the Lake of the Dead, will Death not come after him?
After all, Dudley has resurrected quite a few people and animals, and Death hasn't shown up yet!
Could it be that Death dislikes places with strong yang energy and only shows himself when Dudley runs to a place like the Lake of Corpses, where the yin energy is even stronger than that of a mass grave?
Or are there other restrictions?
Dali fell into thought and also shared his thoughts with Old Deng.
"That's good! Now that you know this, just avoid the Lake of the Corpses. I'll retrieve Regulus's body. Just don't go to the seaside cave!"
Old Deng immediately voiced the idea that Dali had already had.
But Dudley shook his head and said, "Professor Trelawney's prophetic abilities can indeed take into account a portion of conceptual-level power, but obviously, her prophecies are not 100% accurate."
Didn't I completely distort the previous prophecies of the savior?
Not to mention that we are not sure if the lake of corpses in the prophecy refers to the small lake of corpses in the cave by the sea, even if it is, the actual events may not necessarily follow the prophecy completely.
What if I don't go to the Corpse Lake, but you go there alone and manage to summon the Grim Reaper?
When I get the news, won't I still have to go to the Corpse Lake to save you?
This situation, however, aligns with the prophecy!
After hearing Dudley's analysis, Dumbledore felt a headache coming on and was at a loss for what to do.
Dudley continued, "The greatest value of this prophecy about death is that it reminds us that resurrecting the dead will invite death."
As for how many dead people would be resurrected to summon the Grim Reaper, that's unknown;
Without resurrecting the dead, simply pulling their souls out of the world of the dead and using them for one's own purposes—doing this too often might attract the Grim Reaper, who knows?
We're being too passive; I don't like that feeling.
So, I definitely want to visit the seaside caves, but not now.
If death doesn't come, once I'm ready, I will go and fight it!
If we don't get rid of this scourge, we'll always be living in fear.
I don't want to see the wonderful situation we've built up one day destroyed by death.
"That Regulus..." Old Deng asked hesitantly.
Dudley chuckled and said, "Who said that resurrecting Regulus requires going to a seaside cave? Have you forgotten how I restored the Obscurials?"
Old Deng's brows immediately relaxed.
Just then, Lucius's Mirror Imprint video call came in.
Dudley knew that Lucius, with whom he wasn't very close, must have something important to say if he contacted him, so he quickly answered the call.
