Chapter 81 Mischievous Ghost and the Interrogation Room!
Chapter 81 Mischievous Ghost and the Interrogation Room!
The Gryffindor common room is located on the eighth floor of Hogwarts Castle, connected to the Gryffindor Tower.
To get there from the Great Hall on the first floor, you have to climb many stairs, pass through several curtains and hidden doors. What's even more outrageous is that the staircases inside Hogwarts are quite unique; they can move or disappear at will.
If it weren't for Prefect Percy and the older students leading the way, the first-year students would have definitely gotten lost.
Along the way, the new Gryffindor students curiously looked at the portraits scattered throughout the castle, making eye contact and nodding to each other with the seemingly sentient and moving figures in the paintings.
Halfway there, a strange creature suddenly appeared and launched a surprise attack on the Gryffindor group, playing a prank.
Peeves is a castle parasite that is like a ghost but not quite a ghost, capable of forming a physical body and touching real objects!
Peeves, dressed in a colorful striped suit and wearing a top hat, floated around in the air, carrying a bunch of 'ammunition' in his arms.
Upon seeing Peeves, some of the older Gryffindor students' expressions changed drastically, clearly indicating that they had suffered quite a bit of teasing from Peeves during their previous school years.
As the prefect, Percy had to bring out Barrow the Blood to scare Peeves, who was the only ghost Peeves feared.
However, Pipi Ghost wasn't fooled at all. He laughed and chuckled as he frantically threw the 'ammunition' he was carrying at the group.
A deluge of water balloons and broken wooden canes came hurtling towards them like a sudden downpour of hail.
The Gryffindor students tried to dodge, but couldn't completely avoid it. Just as they were about to become bruised and soaked, Dudley intervened.
With a flick of his staff, Dalismetin cast a levitation spell, freezing all the water balloons and broken wooden staffs in mid-air before they slowly floated down to the ground.
"Hey, you little devil, stop causing trouble!"
After Dudley defused Peeves' attack, he gently scolded it.
Pipi Ghost then stopped trying to throw things again.
Its strange, beady eyes locked onto Dudley in the group. Only after confirming that this person was the young wizard who had just been granted special privileges by Hogwarts Castle did it reluctantly stop its prank.
"Oh, how annoying! You guys are lucky!"
Peeves flew away, and Percy gave Dudley a very grateful look before continuing to lead the group forward.
After some time, they finally arrived at their destination.
A corridor, a corridor at the end of which hangs a portrait of a fat lady.
This is the entrance to the Gryffindor common room.
Percy gave the fat lady in the portrait the password, and the portrait moved aside, revealing a circular passageway through which the Gryffindor students walked.
Dudley and Harry lagged behind the group. After everyone else had entered the lounge, Dudley looked back at the other locations on the eighth floor and made up his mind.
About seven or eight minutes later, Dudley and Harry arrived at the Gryffindor boys' dormitory and found the dormitory rooms that had just been assigned to them.
The portion of their luggage left on the Hogwarts Express, along with the large birdcage containing Hedwig, had already been delivered here by house-elves.
The space here is quite spacious, with five large wooden beds with pillars, ceilings, and red curtains, which can accommodate five people.
Besides Dudley and Harry, the other three roommates are the red-haired brat Ron Weasley, the future swordsman Neville Longbottom, and the explosive genius Seamus Finnigan.
After a day's train ride and so much energy and emotion spent in the Great Hall, Ron, Neville, and Seamus quickly climbed into their wooden beds, drew their curtains, and drifted off to sleep.
Dudley and Harry, who had also climbed into bed and pretended to be asleep, opened their eyes one after the other in perfect unison.
They mustered their spirits, quietly got out of bed, put on their robes, and sneaked out of the dormitory without alerting anyone.
As soon as they stepped out of the dormitory, Dudley immediately cast a Disillusionment Charm on him and Harry, causing their figures to fade rapidly and become almost indistinguishable from their surroundings in the blink of an eye, as if they had become invisible.
The Disappearance Charm is a key spell for wizards to conceal their form and create regular invisibility cloaks.
This spell doesn't make a person completely invisible; rather, it gives them the qualities of a chameleon, allowing them to blend into their surroundings and thus achieve invisibility.
It can be described as an essential spell for nighttime outings.
After concealing themselves, Dudley led Harry away from the Gryffindor common room to search for a mysterious place also located on the eighth floor of the castle.
Walking along the castle corridors, having decided on his destination, Dudley suddenly realized that a mysterious force was guiding him in which direction to go.
"Hogwarts' extrasensory consciousness is really thoughtful!"
Dali was secretly pleased, as this would make his actions even more efficient.
Before long, Dudley and Harry were standing in the middle of a relatively quiet and spacious corridor on the eighth floor of the castle.
There are two walls on the left and right. On one wall hangs a tapestry depicting a giant monster, a monster that is hitting an adult man with a large bone club.
Actually, what appears to be a troll beating a man in this tapestry is actually a depiction of a foolish man named Barnabas teaching a troll ballet.
Dudley didn't look at the tapestry much. He told Harry to stand aside, while he paced back and forth along the wall opposite the tapestry, thinking:
"I need an interrogation room that is isolated from the outside world, where prisoners cannot escape, and equipped with a sturdy execution rack and chains."
After walking back and forth three times, a stone door suddenly appeared on the previously empty wall.
The House of Requirement responded to Dudley's request to use the service.
Dudley immediately led Harry, whose eyes were filled with surprise, through the door, which led to a dark-themed interrogation room.
In the center of the room, a tall, blood-stained cross stands prominently, next to several old, worn-out black iron chains and shackles.
Looking at the harsh conditions in the room, Harry swallowed hard, feeling a little panicked. However, he immediately cast a calming spell on himself to force himself to remain calm.
“Cousin! I’m ready!” Harry said calmly.
Dudley looked at Harry, a hint of reluctance flashing in his eyes, but it was immediately replaced by determination.
Rather than suppressing hatred in your heart, it's better to release it freely.
Dudley walked to the cross and stretched out his finger, drawing a large circle in the air.
A sleazy-looking adult wizard with a weasel-like face and a missing index finger immediately fell out of the circle.
It was the rare mouse that Dudley and Harry bought from Ron for twenty Galleons—Peter Pettigrew.
In the evening, this guy woke up in Dudley's personal space cage, finally realized something was wrong, released Animagus, and turned back into human form.
However, the residual rat poison in Peter Pettigrew's body still left him weak and unable to move.
