Chapter 5 Slave Cards
Chapter 5 Slave Cards
When Lei Chi awoke again, it was night, with a full moon and many stars, and the bright moonlight shining down on the earth.
In the world of Tata, day and night alternate, just like in reality.
Of course, the nighttime in this game is just a different environmental effect; the light is slightly weaker, but visibility is still unaffected.
Lei Chi checked the time. Good heavens, he had slept for four or five hours in a short nap, and the intrusion protection period was almost over.
"The daily free chat hasn't been updated yet, so I can't attract any aggro. I guess no one will come to invade. Annoying!"
Lei Chi muttered something to himself, stretched, got up and carried a small table out of the mushroom house, then took a serving of potato and beef rice and a bottle of Fatty's Happy Water, and leisurely enjoyed his meal.
Just as Lei Chi finished eating, he received a system notification: "Ding, the protection period has ended. Your secret camp is now open to invasion by other players!"
"I'm so bored, someone come and beat me up!"
Lei Chi shouted something to the night sky.
As if in response, another system notification suddenly sounded: "Ding, alarm, player Chen Hanxiang has launched an invasion of your secret camp."
"What's going on? Why did you come to hit me at this exact moment?"
Lei Chi found this very strange.
An intrusion has occurred; that's a good thing!
He quickly ran to the edge of the war corridor to take a look.
At this moment, a short player rushed out of the time-space wormhole. It was Chen Hanxiang, who had previously invaded with Wu Jingang.
He came alone this time, without any accomplices.
"Haha, I'm in!"
Chen Hanxiang looked around and laughed.
"The two little tigers are arranged quite symmetrically. This guy named Lei Chi is really unlucky. He started with a beast and then had two little tigers appear. How tragic."
Chen Hanxiang muttered to himself that the little tiger couldn't hit him. He walked forward leisurely and soon saw Lei Chi standing by the war corridor, drinking Fatty's Happy Water.
Lei Chi stared at him, the man's attribute information flashing through his mind.
[Chen Hanxiang: LV13, Mechanical Tower player, 1300 HP, 13 Attack.]
Lei Chi recognized the person as one of the four players who had invaded his camp during the day, and frowned, saying, "Just you alone?"
"That's right, just me!"
"Who gave you the guts to hack in? Are you absolutely sure you can beat me?"
Lei Chi crossed his arms. He knew that a player's combat strength and level were not closely related. A higher level only meant more health points, not improved physical fitness or skills. A skilled but low-level player could potentially defeat a high-level but physically weak player.
Chen Hanxiang, beaming with confidence, laughed loudly, "Hahaha, who gave me the guts? I've trained in Sanda (Chinese kickboxing), beating up a little trash like you is more than enough!"
"Pah! You call yourself Sanda? Come here, I'll beat you to death!"
"You little brat, you're pretty arrogant. Stop right there, don't run away!"
"Come on, if you can't kill me, you're trash!"
Lei Chi was relentlessly provoking him, fearing that the other party might show mercy. He had already bought insurance; if he were killed, the system would definitely pay out more.
Next, Chen Hanxiang rushed over. This guy really seemed to have some training; his punches and kicks were quite sharp.
Lei Chi squatted on the ground with his head in his hands, looking arrogant, and shouted, "Come on, kill me! If you can't kill me, you're my grandson!"
Seeing that Lei Chi didn't even fight back, Chen Hanxiang wondered if this kid was sick or had a masochistic tendency. The way he was being beaten was so perfect!
He didn't care about anything else. This time, he went it alone, timing his intrusion perfectly to shake off Wu Jingang and the others. Was it all just to grab more lunch boxes?
That Wu Jingang is such a sycophant. It's one thing to use his own lunchbox to curry favor, but to steal someone else's is just infuriating.
After killing Lei Chi in one go, Chen Hanxiang quickly went to grab a boxed lunch.
After successfully invading another player's camp plaza by traversing the war corridor, players have only ten minutes to clear the area. Once the time is up, they will be forcibly teleported away.
Chen Hanxiang ordered food at the boxed meal machine. Each meal took ten seconds to prepare, and he had ten boxed meals in two minutes. He couldn't order any more, so he ordered twenty bottles of drinks. At this point, there wasn't much time left before he was forcibly teleported away.
Suddenly, he noticed two gold coins on the deck chair in front of the mushroom house.
"This kid's really stupid. He just left the gold coins here? Why didn't he hide them? Tsk tsk tsk, he's so pitiful. Two little tigers guarded the door, and he didn't even dare to open it during the first wave of monster invasions. He's got a tough temper, though. Even when he was invaded, he didn't utter a single word of begging for mercy. He's a real man. I wonder how long it took him to dig out those two gold coins. Oh well, I'll only take one and leave one for him!"
The guy took a gold coin from the recliner, then his body turned into white light and he was forcibly teleported away.
In less than a minute, Lei Chi was revived in front of the Mushroom House.
He rubbed his hands together, his face beaming with anticipation for the compensation box, when suddenly his eyes lit up as he noticed a gold coin on the recliner.
"What's going on? How come there's still one gold coin left? Chen Hanxiang only got one? Is he useless? I'm so angry! He couldn't even use his chance!"
Lei Chi was unhappy. The more he lost, the more he had to pay out. He only got one of the two gold coins. Wasn't that reducing his income?
Just then, a system notification sounded in his mind: "Ding! Your secret camp has been maliciously invaded by players, and your belongings have been looted!"
"Ding! You have been granted a six-hour protection period. During these six hours, your secret camp cannot be invaded by other players."
"Ding, loss statistics: Camp Master killed, 10 lunch boxes lost, 20 drinks lost, 1 gold coin lost!"
"Ding, claim calculation in progress..."
"Ding! Your deposit is 3 gold coins, and your camp defense index is 2. After calculation, you will be compensated with a claim chest worth 30 gold coins. Would you like to claim it?"
"Withdraw!" Lei Chi exclaimed excitedly. "30 gold! This is so exciting! If that good-for-nothing had taken that one gold coin too, wouldn't we have lost even more?"
Soon, a wooden treasure chest appeared in front of Lei Chi. Lei Chi opened the chest and immediately received a system notification: "Ding, one insurance policy, one city at peace. No fear of invasion, worry-free reconstruction. You have opened the compensation chest and obtained camp reconstruction materials: one blueprint for a level 1 Beast Tower and one Slave Token."
"What the hell is a slave token? It's worth 20 gold?"
Lei Chi took out a token that looked like it was cast in brass from the compensation treasure chest.
[Slave Card: Special item, one-time use. Use to randomly recruit a slave. The slave has a loyalty level but will not defect. They can be resurrected after death, but their level will drop by one and their loyalty will decrease. Resurrection time is three hours. The slave owner can bind a resurrection point to the slave. Slaves can be sold but cannot be plundered.]
"A slave, a little helper in the territory?"
If Lei Chi understood, he immediately used the [Slave Card]. Soon, a beam of light descended from the sky and landed in front of him, transforming into a two-meter-tall, ragged, buck-toothed, light green-skinned bald orc.
"Ding! Congratulations on acquiring the Orc Peon Harley!"
