Chapter 25 Hunting at the Alley
Chapter 25 Hunting at the Alley
As I left the theater, it was already getting dark.
The two strolled along the waterfront promenade in Tsim Sha Tsui for a while before having dinner together and then saying their goodbyes.
After Mia left, Song Sheng did not hitchhike on the roadside, but instead walked back slowly along the street under the neon lights.
As night deepened, he toyed with a coin in his palm while burying his head in his work.
On one side, towards the tenement building, a crow, blending into the night, is quietly perched a dozen meters away on a high floor.
The two dark brown pupils, one on the left and one on the right, were looking down at Song Sheng from his side and behind.
About 30 or 40 meters away, a bread truck was parked on the side of the road across the street.
The bread truck had been following Song Sheng for two or three hours, stopping and starting intermittently.
At first, he wasn't quite sure who the other party's target was.
Even after saying goodbye to Mia, the car remained parked not far across the street.
So, who could it be?
Song Sheng continued his stroll, walking through the bustling streets before turning and disappearing into a dimly lit alley.
Song Sheng, who had his head down, had already shown a slight smile, which then gradually became brighter.
The dim light of the night stretched Song Sheng's shadow longer and longer until it completely disappeared into the darkness.
On the rooftop of the nearby Tang building, a crow perched at the highest point suddenly cawed.
……
Across the street
A bread truck was parked on the side of the road.
Six people, including the driver, were crammed into the car.
Most of the men in their t-shirts and trousers had dragon and tiger tattoos on their bare arms.
The man in the passenger seat kept an eye on the street across the street through the rearview mirror while flicking the ash off his half-smoked cigarette out the window.
The passengers on the bus were getting impatient and began to complain:
"Are you kidding me? Taking this long for dinner? These rich guys are really something else."
"Tch! We all have one head and two eyes, so why is he the one who manages to snag such a gorgeous foreign woman!"
"Do you think those two won't come out all night?"
"Damn it, that's a restaurant! Why don't you just spend the night there?!"
"But that looks like a Western restaurant!"
"A Western restaurant is still a restaurant!"
"..."
"Alright, stop arguing, the target has been identified!"
Upon hearing this, the others in the car immediately perked up.
Across the street, everyone stared intently at the handsome man in the suit who was walking out from the other side.
A short while later
"The two people separated, leaving only the goal on its own."
"Shall we make a move?"
"Wait a bit longer, there are too many people here. The boss told us that this guy is pretty good at fighting, we can't let him find a chance to escape."
As they spoke, the man pulled a burlap sack from a crevice in the side of the car seat: "Distribute the tools first."
A clanging metallic sound came from inside the sack.
Then, the brand-new, sharpened machetes were distributed to the others, and each person simply wrapped the blades with newspaper.
When they noticed that their target had left the bustling street and was heading towards a secluded, dimly lit alley, the six men in the car could no longer contain themselves, and their faces all turned ferocious.
Let's do it!!!
wow——
The side door of the bread cart was suddenly pulled open, and a group of six men rushed out, knives in hand.
The man in the passenger seat at the very back was clearly the leader.
He whispered, "Keep your eyes peeled, and be quick about it. If any of you call the cops, even the King of Hell won't give you a break!"
The group climbed over the railing on one side of the road and quickened their pace toward the dimly lit alleyway.
The man in the passenger seat walked at the very back without any hurry.
As he drew closer, he could faintly hear the sounds of fighting coming from the alleyway.
He stopped and crushed the last cigarette butt with his toe. When he looked up again, the man suddenly wiped away the old newspaper covering the blade, his eyes filled with ferocity, and plunged into the alley.
However, just as he stepped halfway in, the fighting in the alley strangely stopped.
The interior was dimly lit, and it was difficult to see things in the distance.
The man in the passenger seat wondered: Didn't the boss say that this target was good at fighting and was a tough guy?
Why did the second and third brothers finish so quickly?
As he walked closer, the man began to slow down and gradually came to a stop.
Inside the alley
Using the scattered glimmer of light, he could barely make out a figure not far away.
After a pause, the man calmly looked behind him and noticed several human-shaped black figures lying haphazardly behind him.
A bloody smell wafted over from the area.
Gudong!
The man looked as if he had seen a ghost; his Adam's apple bobbed, and goosebumps rose all over his body.
Deep within the alley, there seemed to be the shadowy black form of a large bird, its head bowed, rapidly pecking at the person lying on the ground.
The rustling sound of bones, flesh, and fascia tearing apart sent chills down his spine when he noticed it.
Under immense pressure, he couldn't help but roar:
"Second brother!"
"Third brother!"
"Fourth brother!"
"..."
In the dimly lit and desolate alleyway, no one responded.
Just as he was about to shout again, Song Sheng spoke up, his tone languid: "Stop shouting, you country bumpkin. By the time you stubbed out your cigarette at the alley entrance, I had already taken care of all your brothers."
Tick tock!
As they were speaking, a drop of bright red blood hit a machete on the ground.
The man looked in the direction of the sound and saw a blurry dagger on the right hand of the person in front of him, with what appeared to be beads of blood sliding down the cold blade.
Suddenly, he turned around and ran for his life towards the alley entrance!
But just as he was halfway there, a sharp pain shot through his calf, and he involuntarily stumbled forward.
He propped himself up and immediately turned his head, only to see a butterfly knife stuck in his calf, causing him to break out in a cold sweat from the pain.
Just then, the last few rays of moonlight overhead were mostly obscured by a dark shadow.
The man was almost trembling as he made one last attempt at a counterattack.
He suddenly slammed his hand on the ground and stood up, brandishing his gleaming machete, aiming a desperate blow at the intruder's head!
Snapped!
To his utter despair, his opponent easily intercepted his wrist as he swung the knife, and then delivered a powerful kick, causing the man's pent-up anger to build up inside him!
Song Sheng twisted his hand again, and the cleaver involuntarily slipped from his grasp and fell to the ground.
He grabbed it.
As the man looked up in horror, he swung his arm and brought the knife down from above!
Half of his neck was severed on the spot, and the blade got stuck in the crevices of his shattered cervical vertebrae!
Song Sheng let go of the other person's hand, letting him convulse and fall to the ground.
He crouched down, pulled the butterfly knife out of her calf, and then put it away again.
As he stood up, a jet-black crow cawed and gracefully landed on Song Sheng's left shoulder.
A pair of dark brown bird eyes stared at the man on the ground who was barely clinging to life.
In the alley, a barely perceptible whisper could be heard:
"This meal must have been a good one for you."
