Chapter 59 The Arrogant Laxus
Chapter 59 The Arrogant Laxus
In the end, it was Makarov who personally intervened and subdued the impulsive Natsu.
With their magic-sealing handcuffs on, Chess and Erza were taken back to the nearby Council branch by the Council's messengers.
On the edge of a cliff in a mountain range, far away.
Two figures watched silently as the Fairy Tail members returned to Magnolia Castle dejectedly.
"What a boring guy. He's not exactly weak, but he always likes to do these meaningless things."
Laxus, his fur cloak swaying gently, sat half-sitting on the edge of the cliff, one hand on his knee, and scoffed at Chase who had been taken away.
Although the conversation at the scene was unclear, one could still get a general idea of what was going on from the final outcome.
"The trial by the council is merely a formality."
A calm and indifferent voice came from beside me.
Laxus raised his eyes arrogantly and looked at the masked man who was carrying several magic wands and whose body was completely covered.
"That battle was quite exciting, but unfortunately Erza wasn't good enough to force Chess to unleash his full power."
He clenched his fist slightly, and arcs of electricity began to crackle around his body. "I'm getting a little restless watching this. How about we have a go, Mystogan?"
"Not interested."
Mystogan's face, hidden beneath his mask, remained expressionless as he coldly corrected, "Also, Erza is no weakling."
"So, compared to Chase, you and I are truly incompatible," Laxus sneered.
Knowing Mistgang's temperament well, he did not continue to oppress him. Instead, he withdrew his magic, dusted off the dust on his clothes, and stood up.
"To be honest, it's quite surprising to see someone like you, who doesn't even dare to show his true face, here."
"It would be even stranger not to come and check out such a large magical fluctuation on the outskirts of the town where the guild is located."
Mystogan watched the guild members gradually disappear into the distance, "No matter what, I am still a member of Fairy Tail."
"Tch, another incredibly boring bond story?"
"Whether it's Erza or Chess, it's because of your tolerance that the guild is teeming with trash and weaklings!"
At this point, Laxus's expression immediately turned fierce and irritable.
In his view, given his exceptionally long rebellious phase, if the old man were willing to listen to his opinions and recruit more powerful members, Fairy Tail would have long ago become the strongest guild in Fiore and even the entire continent!
Mystergan stood there, letting the wind blow on him, silently listening to Laxus's complaints and disdain.
After he had vented everything, he spoke calmly, "So, Laxus, you're still acting as a proxy..."
"Why are you here?"
hum!
A short, concise sentence struck his soul, exploding directly in Laxus's mind.
The blond-haired guy stood there dumbfounded for a long time, but couldn't find a suitable excuse.
"Old man, I just happened to be passing by. Who the hell cares whether that pile of garbage lives or dies!" he roared angrily, his face flushed.
"Did I say you were concerned about Erza and the others?"
Mystogan narrowed his eyes slightly, a rare smile appearing on his face. "Face your own heart honestly, and become a little more mature, Laxus."
"You damn bastard!"
Laxus completely lost his guard and flew into a rage, raising his hand to unleash a lightning strike at Mystogan.
Boom!
The lightning blasted the area where Mistgang stood into dust, while Mistgang himself vanished in the form of a thin mist.
"Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!!!"
Laxus was enraged and unleashed a barrage of lightning around him, creating a terrifying scene.
------------
Magnolia.
The usually bustling Fairy Tail guild was now eerily quiet and lifeless.
Natsu, transformed into a miniature fire dragon, was placed on the table covered by a glass, constantly spitting out small flames and shouting.
Unable to accept that Erza and Chase had been arrested, Lucy and the others insisted on going to testify for them.
The other companions were equally indignant, heads bowed, trying hard to control their anger.
Wakaba and the other seasoned veterans didn't react much, instead asking the equally composed Mira for drinks.
"Do not act rashly, just wait quietly for the verdict."
Makarov, unperturbed, sat cross-legged on the bar and called out to Lucy Grey and Happy, who were about to leave.
This was the chairman's order, and despite their reluctance, they stopped in their tracks, their faces filled with distress and worry.
Just then, Natsu in the glass suddenly seemed to choke, covering his mouth and twitching incessantly.
Makarov raised an eyebrow and cast a spell.
boom!
After the dust settled, Macao's figure was revealed to everyone.
"Aha, ahaha, I owe Natsu a favor for the previous request to subdue the snow mountain gorilla."
Marcao sat on the ground, awkwardly scratching his head with a laugh.
the other side.
Magic Council Branch.
Escorted by the toad-man messenger, Chase and Erza, their hands clasped in demon-sealing handcuffs, walked slowly down the corridor toward the courtroom.
A figure with arms crossed and back against a corridor pillar blocked their path.
The man wore the robes of the Ten Wizard Saints, his blue hair flowing slowly, and strange red markings etched on his handsome right cheek.
The moment the toad-man recognized the man's identity, he respectfully knelt on one knee.
"Zekrein?!"
Erza gasped in surprise, her expression one of astonishment.
While accompanying Makarov to submit his letter of self-criticism, she happened to meet Zikrein, one of the nine members of the council.
After getting to know them, I found out that the other person was actually Gerald's "twin brother"!
Of course, these were all lies fabricated by Jellal, solely to achieve the goal of resurrecting the dark mage Zeref in the Tower of Paradise.
Zeklay is merely a manifestation of his thoughts, possessing his magic.
"Long time no see, Erza."
Zekein walked over and greeted them, then paused, surprised to see Chase standing next to Erza. "You're Chase Lynn Edgardon?"
The incident at the Isle of Calamity's Ruins had just passed, and the Council even held a special meeting specifically for Chase, so he naturally recognized Chase.
"What's going on? Wasn't it only Erza Scarlett who was arrested?"
Zikrein frowned as he looked at the toad-man kneeling on the ground.
"Your Excellency, this bastard publicly assaulted the council envoy. I already consulted the council chairman on the way here," the toad-man replied respectfully, head bowed.
He looked resentful when he talked about it, and he still has a stomachache.
He had long heard that Chess from Fairy Tail was a mage who couldn't be treated according to common sense, but he had no idea that this guy would act so recklessly.
To get into courtroom, he punched himself or something...
I would have done it if you had just told me beforehand, you bastard! I got beaten up for nothing!
"Hahaha! So that's how it is, even more exaggerated than the rumors." Zekrein laughed heartily.
"Nice to meet you, Zekrein," Chase greeted without any hesitation.
"You, you, you, don't forget your current identity! Do you even know who this lord is?!" the toad-man hurriedly rebuked.
"I know, they're just trash from the council." Chase shrugged.
He might have given some face to other councilors, after all, they were his guild's superiors.
But for Zekerein, who harbors ulterior motives—oh wait, Gerald—it doesn't matter what happens.
Having placed all his hopes on the Tower of Paradise, he dared not make any rash moves now.
Upon hearing this, the toad-man's expression changed drastically. He was about to reprimand him when Zekrein raised his hand to interrupt him.
"It doesn't matter. I'm just a thought form now, and so are those old men inside. I can't possibly come all the way from ERA for something so trivial, can I?"
Upon hearing this, Erza's gaze turned serious and filled with hostility: "Zekreyin, so you were behind this all along?"
"Don't misunderstand me, I'm actually defending Fairy Tail."
Zeke shifted his attention from Chase back to Erza, "But the old men, fearing blame, shifted all the responsibility to Fairy Tail."
After saying that, he stepped closer, reached out and lifted Erza's chin, bringing his head close to hers.
Just as he was about to whisper a warning to Erza not to reveal the Tower of Paradise, a glance out of the corner of his eye startled him.
That shameless bastard Chase actually stretched his neck and pressed his ear right against their faces!
