Chapter 35 New Identity
Chapter 35 New Identity
"Kurt is already on his way." Quaid's fleshy face revealed a lewd smile.
"Don't try to scare me. I've never heard of this person. I've never heard of any male prison guard other than you being allowed in here."
The blonde woman's voice trembled slightly, but she still tried to raise her voice to make herself appear more assertive.
"You instigated other prison guards to harm inmates, which is enough to get you sentenced."
"Honey, who says he has to be a prison guard? What if he's a prisoner? The same one as you?" Quaid said slowly.
He'll be there soon.
Tian Tian saw Quaid pointing in her direction as he spoke.
Jenny and Quaid both looked up at the vent at the same time. The next second, Tian Tian heard a sound coming from behind her.
"Oh no!"
Tian Tian cursed inwardly, then quickly blew out the candle and turned to move forward.
Jenny, Quaid, and Kurt's voices came from behind, and they sounded like they were from hell.
Tian Tian dared not look back, dared not stop, and crawled forward desperately until she felt pain in her knees and had no choice but to stop and rest for a moment.
At this moment, all the sounds behind them had disappeared.
When Tian Tian saw light shining from the ventilation vent not far ahead, she breathed a long sigh of relief.
"I was almost discovered by Kurt."
She secretly rejoiced, and after her knees felt better, she started crawling towards the ventilation shaft again.
This was the fifth time. Tian Tian didn't start observing immediately. She planned to light the candles not far from the vent first.
The first candle had already burned out, and she hadn't used any candles during that time.
After thinking for a moment, Tian Tian took out the second candle.
The firelight instantly dispelled the surrounding darkness, but it also revealed a head that was very close, a head that was sticking up from the ventilation duct.
It was the head of a young man, with a fresh cut on his face, blood gushing from his cheek.
The man's mouth stretched almost to his ears, his eyes were wide open, and the firelight made his expression even more terrifying.
At that moment, the man was staring intently at Tian Tian.
Perhaps, this person had been watching her ever since she hadn't lit the candle.
Tian Tian didn't know why, but this was the first thought that popped into her head when she was about to die.
A few seconds after seeing that face, Tian Tian forcefully threw the candle at the man and then desperately backed away.
The candle went out after it was thrown, and the passageway was plunged into darkness again.
Tian Tian simply closed her eyes and groped her way backward, but suddenly she felt a huge pull on her feet, as if someone had grabbed her feet.
Then she was pulled backward, and Tian Tian's last consciousness was that the back of her head hit the edge of the vent.
............
Lizzie paced anxiously back and forth in the bathroom; a prison guard had just come to urge them to hurry up with their work.
Lizzie tried her best to persuade them, and only then did she get another half hour to wrap things up.
This means that Tian Tian has already missed the time to return.
"Something must have happened." Lizzie bit her finger, her brows furrowed.
It was clear that she was genuinely panicked.
"Why don't we wait a little longer? Tian Tian doesn't seem like someone who can die easily," Zhang Qingxi said cautiously, turning around.
She followed Lizzie's instructions and remained at the bathroom door the whole time.
"What do you know! Anyone can die! It's not that she's hard to kill, so she won't die! If she dies, how am I supposed to live, all alone, you old woman!"
Lizzie screamed, realizing that she had few teammates left and no longer cared about maintaining her image as a peaceful and kind person.
"It's too late, we can't wait any longer. She must be dead, otherwise she would have come back long ago."
Lizzie was downcast, then her gaze fell on Zhang Qingxi's hunched back, her eyes flickering with inexplicable emotions.
Half an hour passed quickly, and the prison guards' footsteps grew closer.
"It's time to wrap up. Since your work efficiency was low today, you won't be paid."
After the female prison guard finished speaking outside the door, she pushed the door open and entered.
The expected busy figure of the prisoner did not appear; instead, only Zhang Qingxi stood in front of her.
Sensing something was wrong, the prison guard quickly reached for his waist, only to be struck on the head with a mop by Lizzie, who was already hiding by the door.
As the prison guard collapsed to the ground, both of them breathed a sigh of relief.
"Quick, you take off your shirt, I'll take off my pants. Let's tie her up, throw her in the storage room, and lock her up," Lizzie said, as she pulled the other man's pistol away.
Zhang Qingxi nodded and quickly stepped forward to take action.
Lizzie moved very quickly. After piling up her pants and shoes to one side, she came over to help Zhang Qingxi take off the prison guard's shirt.
Just as she was stripped down to only one arm, a sudden change occurred. The prison guard clenched his left fist and punched Lizzie hard in the neck.
Thanks to Lizzie's quick reaction, she sat back and dodged the attack.
Before Zhang Qingxi could react, she looked at Li Qi and felt a chill run down her spine.
Several more punches followed, and blood gushed from Zhang Qingxi's neck.
It was then that Lizzie noticed that the prison guard was wearing a ring with a hook that could be extended.
Lizzie quickly picked up the pistol from the ground, aimed it at the prison guard, and pulled the trigger.
"Bang!"
The loud noise was bound to cause a commotion. Lizzie glanced at Zhang Qingxi, who was lying on the ground convulsing, and then quickly took off her prison uniform and gave it to the prison guard.
Immediately afterwards, she covered the prison guard's face with her coat and then changed into the female prison guard's uniform.
Many prison guards rushed to the scene upon hearing the gunshot.
"What happened, Laura?" one of the higher-ranking prison guards asked Lizzie.
At this moment, Lizzie's heart finally settled down. Just a short while ago, Lizzie was worried that the prison guards would insist on lifting her clothes to look at her.
So, on a whim, she quickly cut off a large piece of Laura's face with the ring and pasted it onto her own face.
She couldn't guarantee it would work; it was just something she'd learned from other dreams, and it hadn't expected it to be effective.
"It's nothing, sir. These two prisoners tried to kill me, and I killed them in self-defense. I didn't want to shoot, but this prisoner was really troublesome."
As Lizzie spoke, she pointed to Laura's corpse.
Seeing that her superior was about to lift his shirt, Lizzie gently stopped him, saying, "I'll handle the body myself. Don't get your hands dirty."
The officer didn't seem to care much; she nodded and said:
"Okay, remember to notify their family members and say that they died suddenly or choked to death while eating. Just find a reason."
"Sir, this incident is far too serious. Please give me a few days to handle it. After that, I will arrange for prisoners to work here."
Lizzie was very sincere; she pointed to the pool of blood on the ground and gestured to her superior.
"Make your own arrangements, and this matter must not be leaked," the officer said, glancing around at the people around him.
"Yes."
Lizzie mimicked the bowing gestures she had seen before, respectfully seeing off the superior and the group of prison guards before beginning to deal with the body.
After dragging Laura and Zhang Qingxi to the storage room, Lizzie carefully removed Laura's entire face skin with a ring.
She then walked to the mirror, where she looked exactly like Laura.
She covered her face with the removed mask, looked at herself in the mirror with satisfaction, and Lizzie smiled.
Now she can only rely on herself. This new identity also means new possibilities, which she considers a stroke of luck amidst misfortune.
