Chapter 101 Pursuit
Chapter 101 Pursuit
On a bench not far from the gate of Konoha Village, Sakura was gazing longingly at the only road leading out of the village. She had been waiting there all night without closing her eyes, hoping that Boruto would bring Sasuke back.
Although Boruto told her to go back first last night, Sakura couldn't stop worrying about Sasuke's safety. First, she told Naruto about Sasuke leaving the village.
Next, Sakura went to the Hokage's office and reported the situation to the Fifth Hokage, Tsunade, hoping that Konoha Village could bring Boruto and Sasuke back.
......
At that moment, Sakura's gaze was drawn to five figures in the distance. They were the mission team that Shikamaru, who had just been promoted to Chunin, had gathered to bring Sasuke and Boruto back.
What's special about this mission to bring Boruto and Sasuke back is that it was carried out without the direct leadership of a Jonin.
Konoha is currently facing a shortage of funds due to Orochimaru's previous collapse plan. In order to raise the necessary funds to repair the damaged facilities, almost all the Jonin have been sent out to carry out various missions.
Currently, Konoha Village retains only a minimal number of Jonin to ensure the village's basic safety and daily operations are not affected.
Naruto said, "According to Sakura's account, Boruto went out to chase Sasuke who left the village in the early hours of the morning. It's been quite a while since then, and he hasn't returned yet. He's probably already in Orochimaru's hands."
Choji sighed, "Seriously, Boruto has already been promoted to Chunin, just like Shikamaru, yet he's still so reckless."
Kiba Inuzuka said, "Alright, there's no point in saying all this now. Our main task is to bring them both back safely."
Shikamaru reminded him, "But before I leave, I want to make something important clear: Sasuke isn't exactly a good friend to me, and I don't like him that much."
"But Sasuke is a Konoha ninja just like us, he is our comrade, so we will risk our lives to save him. That's how Konoha does things."
They pushed open the gates of Konoha, ready to move out, but Sakura suddenly called out to them, "Wait a minute, can I come along on this mission?"
Shikamaru refused, saying, "We already know the situation from the Hokage, but I'm sorry, we can't take you on this mission."
Sakura: "But..."
Shikamaru, seeing Sakura's exhausted appearance, continued, "Because you couldn't persuade Sasuke last night either, we'll have to rely on our brute force to convince him now. Besides, you're not in the right condition for a mission."
Sakura fell silent after hearing this, and could only helplessly accept the fact.
Naruto gave Sakura a thumbs-up and reassured her, "Don't worry, Sakura, I will definitely bring Boruto and that guy back. Isn't that our promise?"
Sakura nodded vigorously after hearing Naruto's words, tears welling up in her eyes: "Yes!"
......
Orochimaru slowly walked into the dimly lit room beneath Otogakure, followed closely by Kabuto Yakushi, who carried the immobile Boruto on his shoulder.
The two disappeared into the shadows of the room, leaving only the sound of their footsteps and Boruto's breathing echoing in the empty space.
As soon as Boruto was brought into this gloomy room, he immediately felt a sense of oppression. The air was filled with a damp smell, mixed with a pungent medicinal odor.
Immediately afterwards, Boruto was skillfully secured to a chair by Kabuto with ropes, his limbs tightly bound. Then, Kabuto lit the candles in the room, the flickering candlelight illuminating the space.
Boruto began to look around by the candlelight, his gaze first falling on the table, where various glass containers were placed.
The sight of the severed limbs soaking in the container sent a chill down his spine. These limbs appeared unusually pale in the medicinal liquid, and some were even deformed.
Boruto felt a chill run down his spine as he looked at the exhibits before him, and couldn't help but think: Could I also become one of Orochimaru's strange and unusual exhibits?
Orochimaru casually pulled up a chair and sat down opposite Boruto, their eyes meeting in the dim candlelight.
Kabuto stood behind Boruto with his hands behind his back, remaining vigilant and wary of any sudden tricks Boruto might pull.
Orochimaru slowly removed the hood that was covering his face, revealing his pale face, and a malicious smile appeared on his lips.
Orochimaru then said softly, "Don't be nervous, we're just 'inviting' you over as a guest."
Boruto was speechless after hearing Orochimaru's words. He wondered to himself, what kind of good person would invite someone over without their consent and then tie them up tightly with ropes?
However, Boruto is currently unable to express his emotions because the cursed seal poison in his body has not yet been removed, and he cannot utter a single syllable.
Orochimaru realized his predicament of being unable to speak. After a moment of silence, Orochimaru reached out and gently touched the curse mark on Boruto's body with his fingertips.
As Orochimaru chanted the incantation in a low voice, Boruto felt the poison of the cursed seal begin to surge within his body, as if an invisible force was guiding the poison toward his neck.
The black lines of the cursed seal seemed to wriggle slightly beneath the skin, eventually condensing into a dark mist in Orochimaru's palm. With a gentle clench of his hand, Orochimaru gathered the mist.
As the poison of the cursed seal dissipated, Boruto felt the restraints within his body gradually loosen, and a sense of ease swept over his entire body, the oppressive feeling he had previously experienced completely disappearing.
Boruto began to think about how to get out of his current predicament. He looked around, searching for possible escape routes.
Although his body was no longer bound by the cursed seal poison, his hands and feet were still firmly tied to the chair.
However, Orochimaru saw through Boruto's desire to escape.
"Give up your futile resistance," Orochimaru said in a low voice. "Even if you break free of your restraints, what then? Your current strength is no match for the two of us."
"Moreover, you are now deep within the Hidden Sound Village, which is heavily guarded. Even if you had wings, it would be difficult for you to fly out of this cage."
After Orochimaru gave Boruto a warning, Kabuto Yakushi interjected at the opportune moment.
"Lord Orochimaru," Kabuto Yakushi continued, "the Sound Five haven't brought Sasuke here yet; they should still be on their mission."
