Chapter 125: Novice No. 2: Stonks 101
Veyra returned shortly after, placing the finalized documents on the desk. Soren reviewed the updated terms one last time before pressing his thumb against the biometric scanner, and Craig quickly followed suit to finalize the legal agreement.
"An absolute pleasure doing business with you, Hunter Soren," Craig said, standing up to offer a firm handshake. "Please leave your card number with Veyra before you depart. We will transfer the first half of the amount as soon as possible."
Soren nodded, sharing his account details with the administrator. After exchanging polite farewells, he turned and took his leave from the executive office.
Once the doors sealed shut, Craig sat back down in his heavy chair, staring thoughtfully at the holographic profile floating above his desk. He raised his hand, casually rubbing the smooth ring on his finger as he processed the meeting.
"Hmm. Although he hid a few things, he truly was sincere and honest," Craig murmured to himself. "Not bad, I guess."
Just then, his gaze drifted down the extensive document and paused at a single line in the personal data section. Craig blinked, staring at the specific date stamped into the digital text.
"Wait... is this today?"
Craig quickly pulled out his personal phone, his fingers moving rapidly across the interface as a calculating glint returned to his eyes.
’I have to use this chance!’

Meanwhile, just as Soren left the internal bureau shop after purchasing the ingredients for yesterday’s recipes, his phone vibrated with a notification. He pulled out the device and opened the message.
It was a transaction alert from the bureau’s financial department.
Soren paused in the corridor, staring at the screen.
’...Twenty-five million.’
Although he had acted completely calm and indifferent a while ago in the director’s office, he was actually super excited. The professional composure he had maintained during the negotiation vanished, replaced by a surge of pure adrenaline. He had to firmly grip his phone just to keep his hands from shaking right there in the middle of the hallway.
’Hehe, now I’m really rich.’
A wide smile broke across his face as he stared at the screen, almost drooling at the sight of the rows of zeros. After all, he had been surviving on mere thousands, if not hundreds, not long ago. The transition to becoming a multi-millionaire like this was a bit too fast for his brain to fully process.
Fortunately, he managed to calm down and school his expression before any passing hunters could see him and brand him as a creep.
Taking a deep breath, Soren opened his banking app, tapped on his starred contacts, and typed in 10,000,000. He hit send without a single moment of hesitation.
Once the transaction cleared, he took a quick screenshot, pulled up his messaging app, and forwarded the image to Ryan with a brief text: ’I finished the deal, here’s your share.’
With his business officially concluded, Soren closed the chat, humming a light tune in his mind as he opened a taxi app.
However, just as he was about to book a ride, his phone flashed with an incoming call from Aunt Clara. He quickly picked up. "Aunt Clara? What’s the matter?"
"Mr. Soren, did you finish your business at the bureau?" Clara asked, her voice carrying a slight hint of hesitation.
"Yes, I just stepped out. I’m returning home now," Soren replied.
"Ah, I see. But... Miss Ethea mentioned she needs something," Clara said, clearing her throat lightly. "If it’s not trouble, can you bring it on your way back?"
"Oh, sure. What is it? Snacks again?" Soren asked with a light chuckle.
"Um, well, yes. But it is only sold at a specific shop in southern Kalmira," Clara explained.
"Oh, I see."
Southern Kalmira was on the complete opposite side of the city. Even in a car, it would take at least an hour to reach the location. But with an extra fifteen million credits currently sitting in his account, Soren didn’t care about the extra fare or the long drive at all. And it was Ethea who wanted it, so he had to fulfill it, since she rarely asked for things.
"Alright, just send me the address," Soren nodded. "I will head over there right away."
"Thank you, Soren. I’m texting it to you now," Clara replied, sounding strangely relieved before quickly hanging up.
A second later, his phone chimed with a location pin for a traditional confectionery shop nestled deep within the upscale residential zone of the southern district. Soren pulled up the taxi app, pasted the coordinates into the destination slot, and confirmed the booking.
A sleek black sedan arrived at the bureau’s curb moments later.
Soren slid into the back seat, letting out a relaxed sigh as the vehicle merged into the flowing traffic, beginning the long cross-city drive.
On the way, he decided to look into real-life investing. Now that he had capital, he wanted to see if his Investment Authority worked in the business world too. Until now, the ability had only returned rewards from people, but applying it to the actual market might reveal even more miracles.
’...Let’s start with the basics first.’
Still, without learning how the standard financial markets operated, throwing credits blindly into ventures would just be gambling.
He opened a secure browser tab and began looking up foundational guides on finance and economics. He needed to understand how the broader market actually operated so that if his ability did trigger on a real-world entity, he would be able to interpret the underlying data properly.
’Hmm...’
He scrolled through a sea of introductory articles and video tutorials:
[The Velocity of Money: How the Global Economy Actually Flows]
[Video: Economics 101 — Scarcity, Supply, and Demand Explained]
[Understanding Capital: What Makes an Asset Valuable?]
[Video: A Beginner’s Guide to Market Cycles and Consumer Psychology]
’...Alright, let’s just learn them all!’
As the car cruised down the highway, Soren leaned back against the seat and began to read, absorbing the foundational knowledge like a sponge.
