Chapter 11 The Nightmare-Contaminated Elf
Chapter 11 The Nightmare-Contaminated Elf
"Laur, how's the caravan doing?"
"Two guards are dead, and all the goods have been stolen!"
"These dark wizards deserve to die!"
Igu abandoned all pretense of elegance and launched into a tirade of curses.
Claire and Lin Feng had just entered the Chamber of Commerce canteen when they heard Igu cursing. Claire went up to him and teased, "Hey, what's giving our all-powerful Master Igu such a headache?"
"The black wizard stole the goods the caravan was carrying."
Igu was in a very heavy mood and didn't even bother to argue back with Claire's teasing remarks.
He didn't know if these dark wizards were targeting only their shipping guild or if they were blocking everyone. If they were just unlucky to run into them this time, that would be fine, but if this entire shipping route was blocked, the losses to the guild would be too great!
Upon hearing the words "dark wizard," Claire's expression turned serious. "What kind of trouble are those guys planning this time? Should we ask the teachers at the magic academy to check it out?"
Listening to their conversation, Lin Feng became secretly vigilant. He knew he couldn't stray too far from the third mission, or he wouldn't be able to outrun the black wizard.
The Chamber of Commerce's lunch consisted only of soup made with cocoa fruit; the other dishes were ordinary fish, eggplant, and cabbage, all very salty.
After Claire and Igu finished their meal, they left in a hurry. Lin Feng didn't have much to do, so he planned to sell the sunflowers in his backpack to the Chamber of Commerce and also buy some cocoa and figs.
He unzipped his backpack, revealing not sunflower petals, but a small black pot the size of a palm!
He zipped up the bag abruptly, turned it inside out, and examined it closely. "This is definitely my bag, right? And this pot is... wait, what the heck? I was wondering where the reward went, turns out it was in my bag."
Lin Feng quickly took the pot out of his schoolbag and was relieved to see that the sunflowers underneath had not been crushed.
After finishing with the sunflowers, he carried a sack of cocoa beans and figs on his back, humming a little tune, and leisurely walked towards Lorraine's cottage.
Aunt Lorraine was preparing lunch for DuckGigi and ChiliGrass when she heard the door open. She exclaimed happily, "Oh! It's Lin Feng back!"
"Gagaga!"
"Aunt Lorraine, I've already had lunch!" Lin Feng pushed away the duck that was trying to pounce on his face and greeted Aunt Lorraine in the kitchen.
"Ugh!"
A loud roar came from afar, followed by a tremor in the ground.
"What's going on?!"
Lin Feng steadied himself, his heart pounding wildly.
The game never mentioned this happening! There's still a year until the main storyline begins, and he has absolutely no idea where the story is headed!
This feeling of being out of control made him panic. He immediately grabbed DuckGigi and rushed out, saying to Aunt Lorraine:
"Auntie! Go back to your room and sit down! I'm going out to check on things, Duckling, follow me!"
Aunt Lorraine, watching Lin Feng's retreating figure, shouted worriedly, "Be careful!"
Stepping outside, one sees several Locke's on the street shaken to the ground by the violent tremors, with crops scattered and crops lying on the ground, creating a chaotic scene.
All the Locke members looked in one direction, towards the place that had made the loud noise, the place where their god resided—Gentle Breeze Mountain.
"That place is Qingfeng Mountain! Could it be that something has happened to the Wing King?"
Lin Feng's mind raced. He thought: The main plot is about the protagonist saving the corrupted Wing King with Iris. What if this corruption started a long time ago?
The black wizards, who hadn't appeared for a long time, have started to appear frequently.
Damn it, the Winged King was an Elf King who appeared on the continent of Calocia a long time ago, and he was incredibly powerful. Even someone like him was corrupted by the Black Wizard...
The academy's headquarters are right across from the port next to the shopping street. I don't think these dark wizards would dare to be so rampant in this place. However, the entrance exam for new students is at the old site of Lightwind Mountain!
Dean Griffin wouldn't be so absurd as to use the lives of freshmen for some kind of test, would he?
The commotion quickly subsided, and Locke on the street began to discuss it amongst himself.
"Have the gods of Gentle Breeze Mountain become angry?"
"It must be because they haven't finished preparing for the cocoa festival yet, which has angered the gods."
……
Yajiji sensed Lin Feng's anxiety, and gently rubbed its little head against his thigh, making quacking noises.
Lin Feng rubbed its head and muttered, "In the game, Dean Griffin is very powerful, so why didn't he intervene to stop all this?"
"It's you! Give me back my premium Gulu Ball!"
The boy who threw the high-grade ball at his duck, DuckGigi, pointed at Lin Feng and shouted in grief and indignation.
Lin Feng was in a bad mood. Hearing the noise in front of him, he looked up, glanced at the boy, and remembered who he was.
He retorted sarcastically, "You can't even tell if an elf has a master, yet you're blaming others?"
What's more, throwing a Goo Ball at someone else's Pokémon is considered provocation. Forget about Goo Balls, even if I beat you up, it's your own fault!
Duck Gigi let out a private laugh from the side, and with that lewd expression, the mockery was absolutely on point.
The boy was somewhat ashamed and indignant by Lin Feng's words. The naive little Locke hadn't thought that much about it. He was just being ridiculed by his family and was angry and wanted to get an explanation. How did it become an unforgivable crime?
Fortunately, his older brother stepped forward. His clothing style resembled Locke from the believer's village. He stood in front of the boy with a cold smile and said, "Sharp tongues? Let's settle this with an elf battle!"
He took out a King Ball and aimed it at Lin Feng. Lin Feng knew something was wrong; not just anyone could use a King Ball! Was he a nobleman? Or a student from a magic academy?
Moreover, a Pokémon worth catching with a King Ball is definitely not something simple!
Except for Clishia.
If he were allowed to raise Duck Gigi using sacrificial magic, he certainly wouldn't be afraid of the challenge, but right now he didn't even dare to go out into the wild. Lin Feng could only say with a stiff face, "Hey, are you planning to bully the weak?"
The older boy was stunned. He put away the King Ball and said with dissatisfaction, "In that case, you can battle my brother! If you lose, you'll not only have to return my brother's Super Gru Ball, but you'll also have to apologize to him."
"What if I win?"
"Then I'll have my brother compensate you with five more magic fruits; this is the price for his foolishness."
The boy proudly raised his head, glaring fiercely at Lin Feng. "Hmph! You want to beat me? Your 'duckling' thing isn't nearly enough!"
The three decided to set up their duel on an open space outside the east side of the shopping street.
While traveling through the wild, the boy's older brother released a fairy, a wasp queen, who appeared to be of a high level. Along the way, all the wild fairies that attempted to attack them were shot down by her.
Lin Feng broke out in a cold sweat. If these two brothers had even the slightest bad intention, he would probably have died suddenly in the wild.
After leaving the jungle, there is a huge, bare rocky clearing, with a wild cocoa tree on the edge of the cliff.
However, the two brothers didn't seem to be short of money and didn't seem to care about the cocoa trees.
The boy lifted the ball and shouted, "Come out, guardian dog!"
"Woof!"
A guardian dog with the bloodline of its leader leaped out, staring arrogantly at its opponent.
"Heh, they're really something else!"
Lin Feng felt much relieved. The base stats of the unevolved Guardian Dog were lower than those of Yajiji, and the kid looked like a very reckless type.
He also pulled out a Gulu Ball, "Come out, Duck Gigi."
"Gagaga!"
Duck Gigi still had his eyes narrowed, looking indifferent.
The Guardian Dog, as a mainstream Pokémon in the early arena, relied on the characteristic of increasing the power of its first move by 100.
They spoke almost simultaneously.
"defense."
"Flame Impact!"
The protective dog charged forward and crashed into the transparent barrier in front of DuckGigi.
"Click-clack!"
The barrier shattered, but only 20% of its power remained. Duck Gigi endured it all and was knocked back a few steps before releasing all the force.
"Gagaga!"
Before the protective dog could fully develop its powers, Lin Feng commanded, "Yajiji, use the sonic bomb!"
Duck Gigi jumped into the air, quacking wildly, releasing a musical note that struck the guard dog on the side and back.
"Woof!"
The guard dog was knocked away, and a purple bruise appeared on its back.
The wind suddenly stopped.
The guard dog, which was waiting for its owner's next command, suddenly bristled and turned to bare its teeth at the boy from behind.
An ominous aura, carrying a chilling and piercing magical power, spread.
Lin Feng's expression changed drastically. Behind the boy's older brother, a Storm Bird, its body wreathed in nightmare energy, appeared out of nowhere.
The blue feathers of the Storm Bird were corrupted into a dark purple by the nightmare energy, and its pupils were crimson. It let out a painful screech and suddenly lunged at the boy's older brother!
This is a Pokémon that has evolved twice!
Moreover, the Storm Bird is extremely fast! If it succeeds in its attack, none of them, having lost their top combatants, will be able to escape!
Lin Feng quickly took out his magic wand and activated all the magic power in the center of his right arm's magic core. "Hurry, hurry!"
He concentrated all his magic power into a giant star and used all his strength to smash it towards the Storm Bird.
The boy's older brother felt a gust of wind behind him. Before he could turn around, he saw a huge star flying towards him. His eyes widened, and before he could even curse, the star flew past his head and hit the storm bird behind him.
"Swish, swish!"
Hearing the sound of the star magic hitting behind them, the older boy breathed a sigh of relief, grabbed his younger brother's hand and ran forward. At the same time, he took out the King Ball and released the Queen Bee.
"Queen Wasp, use the insect web!"
The wasp queen stood upright with her tiny needles, spinning a web of insects to attack the storm bird.
The Polluted Stormbird, enhanced by the nightmare, was only slightly pushed back by the star. After a brief pause, it immediately activated its Fire Blast, releasing a large ball of flame.
The intense flames burned the insect net to dust, showing no signs of slowing down.
"Oh no, the queen wasp, use the cocoon!"
"Gurgle!"
The wasp queen quickly spun a green cocoon to wrap herself up. The scorching air pierced through the cocoon, burning her and causing her to scream in pain.
"hiss!"
"Come back, Queen Wasp!"
After the boy's older brother retrieved the wasp, he took out the second Gulu Ball.
His vest was soaked with cold sweat as he explained to Lin Feng, "This Storm Bird has been corrupted by nightmares and has become much stronger! I may not be able to defeat it."
"This is troublesome!"
Lin Feng gritted his teeth, channeling a second Star Spell into his wand, and said, "Send your brother back to the shopping district for help! I'll use Star Spell to assist you; we just need to stall until reinforcements arrive!"
"good!"
Duck Gigi stood protectively beside Lin Feng, who raised his wand and began to charge up the second Star spell.
The older brother, whose element was countered by his own, couldn't muster any thought of fighting back; he could only hope that his Pokémon could buy him time.
He released all his spirits and said with a wry smile, "If I can make it back to school alive, I'll definitely study magic properly!"
The Stormbird stood high in the sky, flapping its wings. The wind it generated rustled through the trees, and the ominous aura of nightmares assaulted every spirit present.
