Chapter 1407 Capitano Returns to the Scene
Chapter 1407 Capitano Returns to the Scene
By the time Shao Yun returned to the ranch, it was already dark. The last rays of the setting sun were about to disappear, and the sky was tinged with a dark blue glow, with a few scattered lights beginning to twinkle on the horizon.
It was around dinnertime.
But Shao Yun had no appetite for dinner at all. As soon as he stood at the gate of the ranch, he shouted at the top of his lungs into the depths of the ranch:
"Yuanshang! Come out quickly! Get all the milk and dairy products in the house ready, pack as much as you can, we need them urgently!"
No sooner had he finished speaking than the door on the first floor was kicked open, and Yuan Shang stumbled out of the house, clearly startled by the sudden shout, responding incoherently.
"Coming! Your Highness, what's wrong? Has something gone wrong?"
Seeing his flustered state, where he could barely stand, Shao Yun didn't think much of it and assumed that he was just repeating her request because she had called him so urgently.
“Nothing went wrong. It was just a group of refugees who came to Nordkale. I saw them at the dock earlier. There were quite a few timid little children among them. I was thinking of preparing some dairy products for them to help them recover.”
Upon hearing this, Yuan Shang nodded repeatedly in agreement, and as he turned to walk into the house, he called out loudly:
"Alright, alright, I'll go prepare right away! I'll also go and inform His Highness the Prince and Mr. Capitano first."
"Capitano?" Upon hearing these four words, Shao Yun immediately called out to Yuan Shang, who had already taken several steps but was still acting recklessly.
"How did he get here? What's he doing on the ranch?"
Yuan Shang was stopped, and he quickly turned around, scratched his head, and briefly explained the cause and effect to Shao Yun.
“My lord, you don’t know yet, do you? The cataclysm in Nordkale was caused by Dottore, and he destroyed the entire Nordkale.”
"Upon learning the news, Mr. Capitano said he could no longer feign death. For the safety of Teyvat, he had to step forward and completely eliminate the Dottore, this major threat,"
When Shao Yun heard that Capitano was coming out of seclusion to kill that beast Dotole, he felt it was very much in line with his own personality.
"Oh, I see. So, he's here to say goodbye to my brother-in-law."
Before Yuan Shang could respond, the door was pushed open again, and Capitano's tall figure hurriedly walked out of the house, immediately locking onto Shao Yun standing at the ranch gate.
Capitano's expression was hidden behind the black mask. Of course, even without the mask, it was probably impossible to tell, since his face... was probably already bare bones.
However, Capitano's voice was excited. He strode forward, stood in front of Shao Yun, and solemnly gave a standard Kanrea military salute.
“Mr. Shao Yun, you’ve come at the perfect time. I have a favor to ask of you.”
Seeing his unusually agitated behavior, Shao Yun guessed, "Let me guess, your request is related to Dotole?"
Upon hearing this, Capitano nodded firmly and forcefully, pleading, "Yes, Mr. Shao Yun. I know that my request this time is too abrupt."
"But Dotole's actions have already crossed everyone's bottom line. He destroyed Nordkare and harmed countless innocent lives. He deserves to die!"
At this point, he bowed slightly again and requested:
"Therefore, I implore you to lend me your assistance in eliminating this scourge of Doughtore, restoring peace to Teyvat, and giving an explanation to the countless souls of the dead in Nordkalai!"
Looking at Capitano's earnest expression, Shao Yun understood his "sense of justice," but the problem was that after the battle of Floating Feather Bay a year ago, he no longer wanted to get involved in anything other than the ranch and Nata.
Driven by this pessimistic and escapist thought, Shao Yun shook his head, adopted a helpless expression, and politely declined:
“I’m sorry, Capitano. I’m sorry, since I chose to leave all of this a year ago, I don’t want to deal with those things anymore. I can give you something else to help you.”
Capitano saw that Shao Yun had politely refused him, and unlike others, he did not try to persuade him with lofty ideals such as "saving Teyvat" or "avenging the innocent."
He remained silent for a moment, then calmly accepted the situation.
"It's okay, I understand."
He slightly raised his chin and slowly said, "Only by voluntarily stepping forward, turning the tide, and bearing all the storms can one be considered a true savior."
“Since you do not wish to get involved in the conflict anymore, I completely understand your feelings and will not force you.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Capitano looked in the direction of Winter's End and said with a desperate gamble, "I will return to Winter's End now to see Her Majesty the Queen. I hope Her Majesty the Queen..."
He paused, then his tone became incredibly firm.
"No, even if Her Majesty the Queen blames me, I will have no complaints. After I kill Dotore and quell the trouble he caused, I will leave it to Her Majesty to deal with."
Seeing his understanding and unobtrusive manner, Shao Yun felt a slight stirring in her heart.
He had already planned to come up with a compensation plan if Capitano continued to pester him, but now it seemed that all his preparations were useless.
However, hearing the concerns he expressed about the Winter Queen in his tone, Shao Yun finally softened and decided to help him out.
"If you can't explain it to your Queen when you get back, just put all the blame on me."
"I believe that your Queen would not go so far as to personally come to Nata to ask me how you were resurrected."
Upon hearing this, Capitano said helplessly, "I understand your good intentions, Mr. Shao Yun."
“But I will never involve you in trouble unless absolutely necessary. It was my own decision, and I should bear all the consequences myself.”
"Now, I will do everything in my power to end this farce caused by Dotole myself, without dragging anyone down with me."
Seeing his stubbornness, Shao Yun didn't say anything more, but simply waved his hand and wished him well, "Good luck, Capitano."
Capitano nodded slightly to Shao Yun and let out a soft groan in response.
Then, he took steady and firm steps toward the edge of the pasture, toward the direction of winter, to clean house for the Fools.
……
After Capitano left, Yuan went up to prepare dairy products from the ranch as Shao Yun had requested. Kong came out of the room and quietly looked at his brother-in-law, Shao Yun.
Shao Yun watched Capitano completely disappear from sight before slowly turning his gaze to Kong, who was standing not far away, and asked directly:
"So, Capitano has finally repaid the favor he owed you?"
Upon hearing this, Kong nodded slowly, stepped forward, stood next to Shao Yun, and began to explain the progress made over the past year.
"That's right, the favors have long been repaid."
"Over the past year, we have searched far and wide and finally found a suitable vessel to house the ley lines of Kanria—the Sea of Ashes. Capitano has helped us a great deal and we have long since repaid his debt of gratitude."
He paused, then added, "Besides, Capitano was only staying temporarily with the Abyss Order. He's determined to deal with Dotore, and if he wants to leave, I can't force him to stay."
When the topic turned to the Sea of Ashes, Kong went on to elaborate on the relevant matters.
"Speaking of this Embersea, after our investigation, we found that this place is very peculiar. It is outside the timeline of Teyvat, making it very suitable for Kanria to see the light of day again."
Before he finished speaking, the smile on his face became even more pronounced.
"For over a year, the Abyss Order has been operating in secret, using the loom of fate to gradually lay down the ley lines of Kanria and advance the revival plan step by step. Now, all the preparations are nearing completion, and it will soon be finished!"
Upon hearing the words "soon to be completed," Shao Yun's curiosity was fully piqued, and he pressed for more information:
"It's progressing so smoothly? Have you encountered any difficult problems during this time? For example, has the ruling power of the dead not come out to obstruct you?"
Upon hearing this, Kong smiled genuinely and said with great enthusiasm:
"Everything has gone smoothly without any major problems. The plan to revive Kanria will soon be a success, and I have to thank you, brother-in-law, for that."
"In the year since the Death Ruled, they have never caused us any trouble. I guess they were completely frightened by you a year ago and no longer dare to cause us any trouble, let alone obstruct Kanria's revival plan."
Upon hearing this, Shao Yun slowly raised his hand, clapped lightly, and with a forced smile, replied leisurely:
"I'm so happy for you, brother-in-law."
Then, maintaining that ambiguous smile, he raised his chin, gestured with his eyes towards the stables in the backyard of the ranch, and his tone suddenly changed, carrying an undeniable air of command, as he said:
"Now, my dear brother-in-law, I'd like to trouble you to help Yuan Shang and move all the milk and dairy products that we've prepared at home onto the carriage."
"I'm going to take these things to the Olympic Stadium later and give them to those refugee children."
The smile on Kong's face hadn't even faded when he was caught off guard by Shao Yun's sudden order. The excitement and good mood he had just felt about the revival of Kanria vanished in an instant, leaving him feeling utterly disheartened.
Then, his empty mouth opened instinctively, and he uttered a blankly, "Huh?"
Seeing his mouth agape like a city gate, Shao Yun laughed and ordered, "What are you 'huh' for? What are you standing there for? Hurry up and help! Do I have to ask you to?"
Kong's face fell completely. His good mood had plummeted from its peak to its lowest point, like a rollercoaster ride.
He drawled out his words, his tone sarcastic and mocking, "Hmm... brother-in-law, you really are a 'dutiful' rancher~"
Seeing this, Shao Yun couldn't help but raise his hand and gently pat Kong's head. The force wasn't strong, but it carried a subtle threat as he said, half-jokingly and half-seriously:
"Stop talking nonsense and get to work. Otherwise, I'll talk to your sister about having a second child. Then you'll have to come over and take care of the kids every day. You'll be busy all the time."
Upon hearing this, Kong's expression instantly fell. Looking at Shao Yun's cunning and manipulative demeanor, as if he were "holding the emperor hostage to command the nobles," even though he was unwilling, he could only sigh helplessly and nod repeatedly in agreement.
"Fine, fine, you win! What can I do? You're my brother-in-law~ I'll go right now, I'll go right now, okay?"
As he spoke, he turned around hesitantly and walked towards the direction where Yuan Shang was busy, his back view filled with despair.
