Chapter 3 The Tsundere Uchiha
Chapter 3 The Tsundere Uchiha
The rain has been falling.
Four hours had passed since we left Konoha Village, and the sky remained a depressing leaden gray. The forest paths were muddy and slippery, with tangled moss and tree roots forming a natural obstacle course.
"Too slow."
At the very front of the group, Fugaku Uchiha perched on a thick tree branch. He didn't turn around, but the disdain in his voice carried clearly through the sound of rain.
"If it were a regular army, at this marching speed, we would have been corpses in the Iwa ninja ambush long ago."
About twenty meters behind him, two figures followed closely.
Minato Namikaze remained calm and composed, his golden hair damp from the rain, but his bright blue eyes still shone brightly. The chakra beneath his feet was incredibly stable, and each leap resembled a precisely calculated trajectory.
Behind Minato Namikaze, Toru Nishikawa's breathing was somewhat rapid, but not disordered.
Without careful observation, it would be difficult to notice that Nishikawa Tetsu's way of traveling was different. Instead of using large bursts of chakra to travel like traditional ninjas, he used gravitational potential energy to perform a "swinging" motion between tree trunks, conserving energy to the maximum extent.
"Sorry, Fugaku-senpai, we'll speed things up." Minato Namikaze smiled and smoothed things over, while slowing down a bit and waiting for his teammates behind him.
Fugaku Uchiha glanced at Nishikawa Tetsu, who had followed, and his brows furrowed even more.
"Hmph, wasting the whole team's energy to take care of the bottom-ranked player is the most foolish thing to do, Minato Namikaze."
He turned around, his crimson Sharingan flashing briefly before his icy gaze swept over Che: "Hey, you there, if you can't hold on, just say so. I'll dump you at the nearest outpost, so you don't die in the Land of Rain and even collecting your body will be a hassle."
Nishikawa Tetsu wiped the rain off his face and adjusted his breathing.
According to his calculations, the current pace is approximately 40 kilometers per hour.
It was easy for Jonin Uchiha Fugaku, more strenuous for the genius Namikaze Minato, but for someone with only a medium to low level of chakra, it was already a high-intensity task.
"No need for you to trouble yourself, senior." Nishikawa Tetsu's voice was calm and composed.
Fugaku Uchiha snorted coldly, turned around and sped up again, "I'll give you one more hour. If you don't make it to the original location, you can sleep in the mud tonight."
……
The rain subsided in the evening.
The three finally arrived at a dry depression located below a rock wall before nightfall.
This place is sheltered from the wind and has a wide view, making it an ideal temporary campsite.
"Let's rest for ten minutes, then continue on our way. We need to cross the border of the Land of Fire under the cover of night."
After giving the order, Fugaku Uchiha leaped onto a large rock high above, sat cross-legged, and began to stand guard with his back to the two men.
Although the words were harsh, it was clear that the safest resting area was reserved for the two genin.
Minato Namikaze took out some dry rations from his ninja tool pouch and handed them to Toru Nishikawa: "Here, replenish your energy. Although Fugaku-senpai has a sharp tongue, he's actually a pretty good person."
"A typical power-oriented personality, with mild obsessive-compulsive disorder and a tsundere nature." Nishikawa Tetsu took a bite of the hard soldier's ration pill and gave an accurate psychological profile. "Although this kind of person is difficult to get along with, they are indeed very reliable as a teammate."
Minato Namikaze paused for a moment, then smiled wryly: "You always manage to use such unique vocabulary to describe people."
Just then, Nishikawa Tetsu did not sit down to rest, but stood up and walked to the bushes at the edge of the rock wall.
He crouched down and began rummaging through a pile of weeds.
Uchiha Fugaku, who was high up, twitched his ears and turned his head. He saw Nishikawa Tetsu carefully digging out a plant with purple veins with a kunai, then carefully wrapping it in a piece of cloth and stuffing it into the pocket at his waist.
"What are you doing?"
Fugaku Uchiha's voice was filled with disbelief, "Those are weeds, aren't they? Instead of thinking about restoring chakra, they're playing in the mud?"
"This is not a weed, Fugaku-senpai."
Nishikawa Tetsu brushed the dirt off his hands, his expression calm: "This is a variant of 'Aconite,' the root contains a high concentration of alkaloids. After extraction, just 3 milligrams is enough to paralyze the nervous system of an adult male for about 15 seconds."
Fugaku Uchiha paused for a moment, then scoffed dismissively, "A pointless little trick. Against absolute power and the Sharingan, this kind of low-grade poison has no chance of being used."
"In this world, there are no useless tools, only people who don't know how to use them." Nishikawa Tetsu stood up. "Moreover, refining it is free. An explosive tag costs nearly three hundred taels, but poison is a gift from nature."
"Poor and stingy."
Fugaku Uchiha gave a two-word evaluation and then turned away, ignoring him.
However, just a few seconds later, Nishikawa Tetsu's actions once again caught his attention.
Nishikawa Tetsu pulled a handful of strange metallic powder from his backpack and began to sprinkle it along an inconspicuous depression around the perimeter of the camp.
"What is this... Never mind, I'm too lazy to ask." Fugaku Uchiha looked at the grayish-white powder, his eyebrows twitching.
The Uchiha clan's fighting aesthetics consist of dazzling fire-style techniques, exquisite shuriken, and the invincible Sharingan. This kind of behavior, which involves sneaky tricks on the ground like a rat, instinctively disgusted him.
"This is a mixture of aluminum powder and iron oxide powder," Nishikawa Tetsu muttered to himself as he sprinkled it, as if performing some kind of ritual. "With just a little bit of high temperature to ignite it, the heat generated instantly can reach over 2500 degrees Celsius. Although it's a bit damp in this rainy weather, as long as it's combined with that..."
His gaze swept over a piece of phosphate ore not far away, and a slight smile appeared on his lips.
Minato Namikaze curiously leaned closer: "Is this science too?"
"This is art." Nishikawa Tetsu brushed the dust off his hands. "Art is an explosion."
"Tch." Fugaku Uchiha, who was high above, heard this and couldn't help but retort, "Playing with fire? Trying to talk about the art of fire in front of the Uchiha is like showing off your skills before an expert."
He stood up, dusted off his trousers, and jumped down.
"Rest time is over. The journey ahead is a real danger zone. Especially for you, Nishikawa Tetsu."
Fugaku Uchiha walked up to Tetsu Nishikawa, his black eyes fixed on him.
His tone was still harsh, but less contemptuous than before, replaced by a stern warning: "If your little tricks can kill the enemy, I have no problem with them. But if you fall behind because of these things..."
He extended a finger and tapped Nishikawa Tetsu's headband:
"Even if it's Jiraiya-sama's order, I won't turn back to save you, do you understand?"
Nishikawa Tetsu raised his head and looked directly at the future Uchiha clan leader.
"Understood. If I fall behind, please don't look back."
"Because at that time, the traps I left behind might blow up anyone who turns back," Nishikawa Tetsu silently added to himself.
"Walk!"
With a low shout, Fugaku Uchiha sent the three of them disappearing back into the rainy forest.
