Chapter 14 Parents' Past: The Slick-Haired Professor
Chapter 14 Parents' Past: The Slick-Haired Professor
Hagrid was taken aback. Harry and the other two looked over and, seeing his demeanor, they knew he was the one in the know.
Harry exclaimed, "My brother knew all along!"
Hagrid took a sip of his hot tea and said thoughtfully, "Harry, that was a long time ago. Who told you that?"
Ron interrupted, "Nobody told us. We only found out after Harry and Professor Snape had a huge argument."
"puff!"
Upon hearing this, Hagrid spat out a mouthful of tea, like a sun shower. That evening, the sunlight shone through, revealing a rainbow.
After calming himself down, Hagrid took another sip of hot tea. "Harry, what did you say to Snape?"
"Harry said the cow's rear end was connected to Professor Snape's mouth."
"puff!"
Another sun shower fell from the sky, revealing a rainbow. The two rainbows combined to form a single rainbow.
Fearing that Ron might say something even more outrageous, Hagrid put down his tea and said worriedly, "Harry, you shouldn't have been arguing with Snape. That should have cost you at least fifty points in Gryffindor."
"No, that's exactly why we're curious," Hermione said, shaking her head. "After Harry mentioned his parents' names, Professor Snape seemed to suddenly stop being angry and didn't deduct any points."
Hagrid pondered, "They said the name? Hmm... Oh... I see..."
Harry, not wanting to hear any of this, said urgently, "Brother Hagrid, please tell me about my parents' past with Snape."
He wanted to ask, but Hagrid was cautious and dodged the question, saying he didn't want to talk about it. Harry pressed him for a while, but couldn't get a single word out of him.
Suddenly, Hermione said abruptly, "Alright, Hagrid, let's change the subject."
Hagrid was under immense pressure and feeling quite anxious, but after hearing Hermione's words, he breathed a sigh of relief.
"That would be perfect. You can ask me anything except this."
What was the relationship between Professor Snape and Harry's mother?
Hagrid jumped in surprise, nearly causing the roof to collapse. "How did you know?!"
"I knew it!" Hermione clapped her hands together, hands on her hips, and said proudly, "I knew it when Hagrid kept repeating 'name'!"
Harry exclaimed, "Big sister, stop beating around the bush and tell me quickly!"
"Harry, strictly speaking, you should call your mother Lily Potter."
These words were like a wake-up call, clearing the fog in Harry's mind and resolving all his entanglements.
It is precisely because of differences between East and West, and differences in culture.
Although England has a gentlemanly etiquette, married women must take their husbands' surnames; while in the Song Dynasty, although the husband and wife followed each other, the names given by the parents were not changed.
Even after Pan Jinlian married her elder brother, she never changed her name to Wu Jinlian. If you were to tell outsiders, you would only say that she was the eldest daughter-in-law of the Wu family.
Having sorted out the cause and effect, Harry flew into a rage, shouting, "Damn it! This greasy-faced scoundrel dares to covet my mother!"
"If I don't chop this bastard into mincemeat, I'm not worthy of being a son!"
Seeing Harry reach for the watermelon knife again, Hagrid exclaimed, "Wait, Harry!"
Harry, his anger blazing, roared, "If you have any words of advice to offer, don't say them again! At that point, I'll recognize you, brother, but I won't recognize your blade!"
Seeing his resolute tone, Hagrid dared not hide anything any longer. "Uh... Harry, you have to know that before fifth year, Lily and Snape were best friends."
"But then they suddenly went their separate ways, and James and Lily grew closer and closer... After graduation, they got married."
"Of course, I only know the general outline; I don't know the specifics."
Hermione and Ron both had different expressions upon hearing this, never expecting that Snape was such a victim.
Harry scratched his head, his murderous aura receding, and then he put the knife back in.
It is:
The scarred man harbored murderous intent, and Hagrid hurriedly recounted the past.
Professor Snape, with his slicked-back hair, left disappointed, as fate had other plans.
Seeing that the three children remained silent for a moment, Hagrid relaxed and smiled, "Relax, Harry. Snape's attitude was indeed a bit harsh, but he would never do anything to really hurt you."
Harry sighed. "How could I not believe what my brother says?"
He got up to get the teapot and suddenly noticed a piece of paper under the heater, which was a clipping from the Daily Prophet.
Harry picked it up and examined it closely. The report said that Gringotts had been burgled at the end of July, but fortunately the treasures in the vault had been taken, preserving Gringotts' reputation for not being robbed.
Harry pondered, thinking of Gringotts, its vaults locked by hundreds of spells, guarded by dragons. A goblin every three steps, a wizard every five—how could such a forbidden place have been trespassed upon?
Looking at the photos in the report, the vault that was broken into, bearing the number 713, is the very vault where Hagrid took the gray cloth bag!
Harry was startled. Could it be that the strongman would arrive right after they left?
Hagrid was there to retrieve the goods for Dumbledore, and this strongman, having failed to get there, was bound to be furious and would surely come to Hogwarts to steal the treasure!
Harry held up the report. "Hagrid, what exactly did you take from Gringotts that day that everyone's so interested in?"
Hagrid stared intently, his heart pounding with anxiety, wishing Harry were asking about his parents' past.
"Harry, I absolutely cannot tell you this!"
"But my brother is still hiding it. A thief never leaves empty-handed; that fellow is definitely coming to Hogwarts!"
Ron and Hermione, after reading the report, exclaimed, "Hagrid, is what this guy is trying to steal at Hogwarts?"
As they all asked in unison, Hagrid merely glanced away and said, "Oh, don't worry, young wizards, none of you can get into Hogwarts."
"Even Mysterio won't do. Don't forget, Professor Dumbledore is here."
Ron and Hermione were relieved to hear this, but Harry didn't believe it and said, "That strongman was able to break into Gringotts, so he must be very skilled and have some kind of evil magic."
"We are in the open while he is in the shadows, and there are hundreds or thousands of us. How can Dumbledore protect us all?"
Harry's words were sharp and incisive; how could Hagrid possibly respond?
Having already been caught out by Hermione's slip of the tongue, and then being caught by Harry in the news, fearing that the more he said, the more mistakes he would make, and the more he would miss, he got up and pushed them all out.
"Alright, the professors at the school will take care of these things. What you need to do now is hurry back to the castle for dinner!"
With that, he slammed the oak door shut.
Harry, Ron, and Hermione walked towards the castle, thinking to themselves:
This report was published two months ago. I'm afraid that guy has already disappeared and infiltrated Hogwarts, hiding somewhere waiting for his chance.
As the saying goes, people fear becoming famous. With my reputation, if any misfortune were to befall me, it would surely come first.
Harry grew increasingly alert and suddenly turned and headed towards the school building.
Hermione called out, "Harry, where are you going? Aren't you going to eat dinner?"
"Elder sister and brother, please go ahead. I must see Professor Flitwick!"
There's a saying: Gringotts has been robbed, and Scarface is filled with anxiety. Though separated by thousands of miles, he'll surely come to Hogwarts. Having not yet learned any deadly spells, and knowing that fire is no match for a dagger, he seeks out Professor Flitwick to forge weapons for self-defense. To find out what happens next, stay tuned for the next installment.
