Chapter 12 Integration and Picnics
Chapter 12 Integration and Picnics
A month is enough time for Li Wei to integrate into this not-so-large gathering place.
At least the guards have integrated, and the villagers have begun to accept this outsider.
Although every guard cursed this newly emerged devilish advisor behind his back.
Because Li Wei suggested that since the world is not peaceful now, in order to shed less blood, we should shed more sweat.
Before changing shifts, the guards would run a lap around the village in their armor, of course, to prevent their bodies from breaking down.
In addition to training, soldiers naturally need to eat more protein, but medieval soldiers didn't have many options for protein: beans, eggs, and milk.
Li Wei managed to persuade the lord's family to reduce their food rations, and provided the guards with eggs and unlimited bean soup. As for milk, that would depend on when the cows and mares gave birth.
The guards who are not on duty can be entirely supported by the lord. They get an extra egg in the morning and enough bean soup, which costs a lot of money.
As for meat, some unscrupulous bosses in modern times wouldn't even include fresh meat in their lavish lunches. In the Middle Ages, it was good enough if the soldiers could just fill their stomachs. Occasionally, they would add some smoked meat, chopped up, to the soup for dipping bread, as a way to add some oil and meat to satisfy the soldiers' cravings.
The villagers accepted Li Wei for a simple reason: Li Wei's training plan made the guards get up an hour earlier and then exhaust them like dogs.
There's not much energy left for drinking, fighting, and causing trouble in the village after get off work, which has increased the safety level by several percentage points.
In this small town with a population of less than a thousand and fewer than a hundred guards, if someone farts, everyone will know about it tomorrow, and Li Wei will naturally gain the favor of the villagers.
......
Li Wei, also fully armed, hung behind the running guards, shouting at the top of his lungs.
"Get running, you lazybones! The last one can skip the guard duty and just train with me until we're having midnight snacks!"
Nobody wants to be beaten up until late at night by a freak with inexhaustible energy, so everyone stopped slacking off to make sure they wouldn't be the unlucky one.
As the advisor who made the suggestion, he didn't want to be stabbed in the back by these guards, so he naturally had to join the running group. After all, he was the one who made the suggestion, and if he didn't run with them, the guards would look down on him.
"Consultant Li, will this really work?"
The one who raised the question was none other than the lord's daughter, Annabe, probably because of the lord's tacit approval, after Levi had been staying here for half a month.
This silly roe deer then sought out Li Wei, a rare creature who could conjure up stories with a mere whim.
"It's absolutely effective. Your father didn't stop it for a month. He even spent money to buy hundreds of chicks for the villagers to raise. These guards are also much more energetic than they were a month ago."
The young lady on horseback was puzzled.
"Is this important?"
Li Wei replied as he ran.
"Of course, once you have armor, the most important thing for melee combat is stamina."
After another six months of training, everyone can feel the changes in these people. Do you think the captain is willing to supervise the night shift just to see the tongues sticking out of these guys' mouths after they finish running?
He knew perfectly well that one-on-one might not reveal much, but in a hundred-on-one fight, they could absolutely crush their former selves now.
"Alright, that's a man's business. Right now, I just want to know how your spicy rabbit is. I've already bought two rabbits from the hunter, and I'm just waiting for your performance."
This is the sound of Li Wei running around the village to buy spices after receiving his salary yesterday. It aroused the curiosity of the silly roe deer. After reciting a list of dishes, the silly roe deer was so tempted that it drooled and invested in Li Wei's food development without hesitation.
Li Wei was unwilling to lose half of the joy in life, so he insisted on making something flavorful out of the ashes. Li Wei also discovered that the ashes did not lack a sense of taste, but rather that it had become dulled.
A dulled sense of taste is no match for the gluttony of the great food empire.
However, in order to maintain its figure, the silly roe deer refused pork, which was readily available, and even the lord could only eat beef and mutton when the opportunity presented itself.
Venison, on the other hand, depends on how skilled the hunter is, while chickens and ducks are assets that lay eggs, and they're not something you can just kill whenever you want.
So, cute rabbits, which can be born in the wild, are easy to find in traps, and don't make you gain weight when eaten, were chosen as sacrifices.
"Don't worry, did you bring the spices I prepared? If you did, we can start working as soon as we finish our run."
The silly roe deer patted its saddlebag, indicating that it was here.
"By the way, why did you buy so much salted fish? It smells awful."
Li Wei responded with grief and indignation.
"stew."
This was the only thing Li Wei found that tasted good; it was so flavorful that it didn't need much salt.
After the run, they gathered at the village entrance and were reminded that the exhausted guards were not allowed to remove their armor to cool down, no matter how much they were sweating.
Following the silly roe deer, the captain, and Sergeant Kara, each rode a horse to find a suitable spot for a picnic.
As the daughter of a lord, it's natural that she wouldn't travel alone; it's perfectly normal for her to have someone accompany her.
But Livi on horseback doesn't seem quite normal.
The captain looked utterly bewildered.
"Unbelievable! Your Excellency, who seems to know a little bit about everything, can't even ride a horse. Don't squeeze your legs so tightly, you're making the horse foam at the mouth!"
Li Wei's dissatisfied response.
"I've never ridden a horse! I've only been led around on ponies at the racetrack, and even the tour guides don't allow me to get close to adult horses."
The captain clicked his tongue. He had only ever heard of racecourses; the king had one mountain that served as a racecourse, and anyone of low status was not allowed to enter. Even his own baron would have a hard time getting in.
"A racecourse? A tour guide, what a damn young master."
Li Wei retorted without a care in the world.
"Ha, young master my foot! Although compared to you guys, I could say I used to live the life of a young master."
"Who exactly were you?"
Li Wei countered with a question.
"Does it matter? Nobody here knows me anyway."
The captain grinned.
"That's right, it doesn't matter anymore. Now you're just like us, wallowing in the mud."
This has caused dissatisfaction among some people.
"Hey, there's a lady here too! What does 'muddy' even mean!"
"Oh, miss, please forgive my bluntness, old soldier. Anyway, I can't be the knight in shining armor in your eyes, so I won't pretend anymore."
"Actually, you can still ride a white horse, Captain Marathon, haha."
The group rode their horses, chatting and laughing, slowly approaching the forest so they could gather firewood and also take a break.
Meanwhile, in the forest, a group of ragged soldiers were watching the uninvited guests.
"Four people, four horses, three armed men, a little girl, and a group of fat sheep."
"We can definitely get a ransom if we catch him, boss. Shall we make the move?"
A large figure in the shadows of the woods stared at Li Wei and his group for a while, and after confirming that they had no backup, whispered.
"Follow them."
