Chapter 19 Gordon's Miscalculation
Chapter 19 Gordon's Miscalculation
After the Joker finished speaking, he looked at Harvey quietly, waiting for his next move.
Harvey's right hand was being held by the Joker, gripping a revolver, with the muzzle pressed against the Joker's forehead.
Although Harvey was furious, he did not fire immediately. Instead, he took a coin out of his pocket with his left hand.
One side of the coin was spotless, but when Harvey spun it, the other side was pitch black...
"You're alive." Harvey turned the coin, smooth side facing the Joker, then turned it dark side towards him. "You're dead!"
Harvey's meaning was clear: he wanted to decide the Joker's fate by the outcome of a coin toss.
Although he used to appear to make decisions with a coin toss, because both sides of the coin had human heads on them, he actually already had the answer in his mind when he flipped the coin.
This time, however, he would truly make a decision based on this coin.
Seeing Harvey pull out a coin, the Joker looked pleased. "You finally understand."
Harvey tossed a coin and stared intently at the Joker.
As the coin fell, a smile crept across the Joker's lips, while Harvey slumped onto the hospital bed in despair.
"Dude, this is the real destiny, not the cheating methods you used before."
"Hurry up, buddy, something's about to happen here."
Harvey held the revolver in his hand, looking at the coin lying face up on the hospital bed, and all his initial enthusiasm was gone.
He acted as if he hadn't heard the clown's words, grabbed the coin, picked up the pistol, and limped away from the hospital.
Watching Harvey leave, the Joker wore a bored expression and followed him out of the ward.
At the ward door, he pressed the cleaning solution a few times, washing his hands while licking his scarlet lips.
After feeling that he had cleaned it, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a controller.
Pull out the antenna, the clown presses the control button, and the hospital ward begins to explode.
The clown walked out unhurriedly, his gait even appearing somewhat comical.
He had just stepped out of the hospital when several oblivious reporters, carrying cameras, began filming him.
The clown hopped and skipped, a signature maniacal grin on his face.
Just as he was enjoying it all, the explosion suddenly stopped.
The explosion suddenly stopped, which startled him, followed by a sense of emptiness.
He grabbed the controller and frantically pressed the buttons, and the hospital parking lot started exploding again.
As soon as the explosion rang out, he rushed onto the school bus parked next to him, which was being used to transfer patients.
The clown, despite being a jerk, surprisingly loves school buses.
The school bus drove into the distance, and the entire hospital was reduced to ruins in the explosion.
...
"We're just one block away from the police station."
Gordon looked at the familiar street scene and breathed a slight sigh of relief.
Turning to look at Rhys sitting beside her, she felt disgusted but had to protect him because of her status.
Looking at this guy made him very unhappy.
"Yes, we'll be there soon. Harvey should be alright by now."
Li Wei added a comment, subtly mentioning Harvey, leaving it unclear whether the situation would continue.
In the original story, the hospital exploded during the car crash, but now, they're almost at the police station.
"Don't worry, most of the people in the hospital should have been transferred. This much time should have been enough for everyone to be transferred."
Gordon said, "As for Harvey, he'll definitely be the first one moved, don't worry, man."
Gordon's confident demeanor left Li Wei somewhat speechless; this was not the humble and cautious Director Gordon he remembered.
As if to confirm his words, a sudden, violent explosion came from the other side of the city.
Even from several blocks away, you could hear it clearly.
Upon hearing the sudden explosion, Gordon's expression changed drastically, and his voice trembled.
"To the southeast... is Gotham Central Hospital..."
Gordon pulled out his walkie-talkie. "Has everyone come out of the building? We need to find out how many people there were originally, check the patient list and statistics sheet. I'm coming right away!"
The convoy slowly came to a stop and pulled over onto the road opposite the police station.
Everyone's attention was drawn to the explosion coming from the southeast, and no one noticed the construction bulldozer parked not far from the police station.
Hearing the distant explosions, a redneck white man in the bulldozer's cab downed his liquor in one gulp and stared intently at the police car parked by the roadside.
The sudden explosion also stunned Li Wei; he remembered that he had warned Gordon.
Now it seems that with the hospital destroyed, Harvey has probably turned to the dark side.
Just as Gordon was about to warn him about Harvey's whereabouts, a bulldozer came hurtling straight toward the police car where they were.
The officers who reacted began firing, but the bulldozer, like a ferocious beast, directly lifted up the police car where Gordon was.
The police car was pushed against the wall, the bulldozer raised its shovel, and then the police car rolled over like a log and landed at the rear of the bulldozer.
A bullet pierced the glass of the bulldozer's cab, and the redneck's head lolled to the side, collapsing directly onto the steering wheel.
The police car rolled over, and Li Wei felt a sudden dizziness.
Fortunately, having learned from his first rollover experience, he fastened his seatbelt.
After the car rolled twice, he landed heavily on the ground. Luckily, his neck was not broken.
Having suffered a series of blows, Gordon was still dazed and confused, his mind not yet fully clear.
The police officer who had just gotten into the car immediately fainted, and the shotgun in his hand fell to the feet of accountant Rhys.
Although blood was streaming down Rhys's forehead, his eyes were shining with excitement.
Gunfire erupted like rain outside the car. Looking at the shotgun lying at his feet, he felt his chance had come.
Inside the car at this moment are Levi, the famous Oracle among the players, and Commissioner Gordon of the Gotham City Police Department.
Even if he had never seen Batman, he knew about the enormous influence of these two men.
If he can take advantage of the chaos and kill those two guys, who knows how much his reputation will rise.
His reputation is still rising, having recently surpassed 100 points, and he has also received an attribute point as a system reward.
This wonderful feeling gave him a strong urge to kill Gordon and Reeves in the car and then slip away in the chaos.
He didn't care about Rhys's identity; he found that being a villain was much faster at building reputation than being a good guy.
Having figured all this out, Rhys bent down, trying to pick up the shotgun that had fallen to the ground.
"Mr. Li Wei, I will remember your contributions to me..."
Upon hearing Rhys's inexplicable remark, Li Wei, who was unbuckling his seatbelt, looked up and saw the guy reaching for the shotgun on the ground.
Looking into this guy's eyes and seeing his fierce gaze, Li Wei knew what this guy wanted to do.
"Rhys, are you crazy! We're here to protect you. The police station is right outside. What are you trying to do?!"
"Are you crazy?"
Rhys had a crazy smile on his face, and he was quite pleased with Levi's frantic movements as he was strapped in with the seatbelt.
"No, no, no, Mr. Prophet, you have no idea of my power..."
"Once I sacrifice you and Mr. Gordon, and then a tiny bit more, my power will be beyond your imagination."
Fearing that Li Wei might not understand, he deliberately described the way of gaining prestige through killing as a sacrifice.
The shotgun was right in front of him; he could already feel its icy touch on his fingertips.
