66. Stark, the fanatical and curious man
Stark Tower.
With messy hair and dark circles under his eyes, Stark was fast asleep in the lab.
"Tony, Tony, wake up," Pepper called softly, shaking his arm as she did so.
Stark just grunted once and then didn't react.
Pepper covered her head, gave Steve an apologetic look, and then called out, "Tony, get up! Steve said your mech is as fragile as a cookie; it crumbles at the slightest touch."
"What?!" Stark opened his eyes abruptly, instinctively retorting, "My latest Jaeger is definitely the strongest. Next time I meet him, I'll definitely give his nice butt a good whack."
Once his vision was fully clear, he saw a familiar, large, round buttocks. He swallowed hard, looked up, and saw Steve looking at him with a slight smile.
"Stark, it seems you have a strong obsession with my butt."
Stark chuckled awkwardly and touched his chin. "Captain, I was just dreaming, I was just dreaming, haha."
Steve, too lazy to bother with Stark's strange idea, pointed to the door and said, "We've captured a very strange supernatural creature. Perhaps you could come and see what it is."
Stark's eyes lit up, and he immediately became interested. He said excitedly, "Take me to see it."
As soon as he opened the lab door, he jerked back, instinctively pulling Pepper behind him: "Oh, damn it, Steve, what kind of monster did you let in?"
Outside the laboratory, a lizard-man nearly a story tall stood silently, its eyes wide open, as if it were about to devour someone.
Steve crossed his arms: "Don't be afraid, Stark, he can't move."
The lizardman stared at Steve in fear, his muscles tense, his hands pressed tightly against his body. He had clearly been taught a lesson by Steve and was being suppressed by his telekinesis.
Stark patted his chest: "This is the strange creature you found? There are so many monsters in New York."
"No, no, it's over there." Steve pointed to the other side.
Matt and Peter, dressed in casual clothes, stood next to a pale-skinned, tall creature in wet, aristocratic attire.
Stark rubbed his eyes in shock and said, "A vampire?"
He rushed forward without even greeting the two people next to him.
After observing it carefully for a while, he pinched his nose and said, "Why is this vampire all wet and smelly?"
Peter touched his arm and said, "This is what Mr. Rogers caught in the sewers. It's the same creature that attacked me before."
"Huh?" Stark's eyes widened. He had heard about this before. "But wasn't that monster killed by Ultraman?"
Peter spread his hands and said, "Mr. Stark, I don't know either. Perhaps he can be resurrected?"
Resurrection? The word immediately piqued Stark's interest, and he hurriedly said, "Get him into the lab for me."
As he passed the lizardmen, he asked again, "And what's with this green monster?"
Peter recounted the whole story, and also told Stark about the serum and some of his own thoughts.
Stark nodded and said curiously, "Okay, bring him to the lab too."
Upon entering the lab, Stark first analyzed the lizardman's blood and the serum in his hand, then confidently said, "Peter, this antidote is simple. You can reverse engineer it yourself based on the serum's components. If you don't understand, ask Jarvis."
At this point, he suddenly said mysteriously, "To be honest, I suspect that evil wizard Ji Yuan used magic on my Jarvis; he seems to have undergone some strange changes."
Peter scratched his head, nodded blankly, then took the serum and went to another lab table.
Stark stared intently at the vampire-like monster, and under his control, the mechanical arm pulled open his clothes.
He had barely glanced at it when he cursed, "Oh shit, what did you guys do? Why is there garbage in his chest flesh?"
Stark took a few steps back with a look of disgust.
Steve rubbed his temples. "This monster's regenerative abilities are too strong. Peter and the others used some highly efficient techniques during the fight. Couldn't you find another place to collect blood?"
"Sigh, you... never mind." Stark waved his hand dismissively, and the alloy needle on his mechanical arm pierced the monster's body, sucking out a large canister of blood.
Stark placed the blood under a microscope and exclaimed in surprise, noticing that the cells in the blood were not moving.
After adjusting the microscope, I looked again and it was working normally.
The more closely Stark observed, the more exaggerated his expression became. He exclaimed excitedly, gesturing wildly, "Incredible! Absolutely incredible!"
Everyone present was drawn to it. Stark pointed to the drop of blood and said, "This drop of blood contains the DNA of all animals, including animals, humans, birds, and insects."
"This is incredible. It's unbelievable that it didn't cause genetic collapse."
He then placed the blood sample on a more advanced machine. As the machine analyzed the blood, he exclaimed in realization, "This isn't pure blood; it's more like a combination of some kind of energy and blood. This DNA seems to be a manifestation of that energy. But why would such a creature exist on Earth?"
Stark frantically grabbed at his hair; the feeling of wanting to know but not being able to find the answer was driving him crazy.
He suddenly looked at Peter, his eyes flashing with an almost crazed light: "Peter, do you know anything else about this strange vampire? Tell me quickly."
Peter raised his hand and said慌张地, "Mr. Stark, please calm down, I'll tell you everything I know."
He then told Stark about his speculations about Moron's origins and some of his known abilities.
Stark scratched his head, feeling overwhelmed by the sheer volume of information: parallel universes, spatial travel, energy absorption—this time, his worldview was being completely refreshed once again.
He then turned his gaze to the vampire on the experimental table. He had a feeling that this would become the key to further advancing his technology; its use of energy was simply incredible.
If the research yields results, perhaps he could try traveling through parallel universes to see himself in other universes, or prevent invasions from other universes.
As for the principle behind resurrection, we still don't understand it.
However, Peter's statement was merely a guess. In the spirit of scientific rigor, Stark decided to ask the doctor, consultant, magician, and last resort of their civilian team.
Looking down at the microscope, he casually said, "Jarvis, call Ji Yuan."
"Mr. Stark, I think I don't need to call Mr. Ji Yuan."
Why?
"Because he is right in front of you."
"What?"
He looked up and saw Ji Yuan's illusory face smiling at him.
Stark's face paled, he took a few steps back, clutched his chest, and said, "How did you die?"
