Chapter 161 The Missing Lockhart
"Professor Hamilton?" Mrs. Pomfrey was taken aback when she saw the masked figure in front of her.
"What are you doing—"
"Lohart—is Mr. Lockhart here?" Royla leaned against the wall, panting heavily—that damned old man Dumbledore! If Hogwarts had Apparition, would things be like this?
Aside from Hagrid being left in the Forbidden Forest to care for the unicorns, Loila and Luna rushed back to the school hospital.
"Mr. Lockhart?" Mrs. Pomfrey was taken aback again. She seemed not to have expected Loila to come looking for Lockhart. After a few seconds of silence, she said, "Mr. Lockhart left this morning."
"He...he left?" Loila's eyes widened, a wave of panic washing over her. "Where...where did he go?"
"It seems he went home to rest," Mrs. Pomfrey shrugged. "He was muttering something about packing his things."
Mrs. Pomfrey's words made Loira's eyelids twitch. Pack—pack your things?!
What is Mr. Lockhart doing? Why is he resting at a time like this?!
Loila immediately turned and ran towards Lockhart's office, saying to Luna as she went, "Luna—"
"Luna, go find Dumbledore right now!"
That's right—Dumbledore! There's no way Dumbledore can stay out of this now, even though Royla doesn't want to tell him either—but considering how he was when they were discussing the curse.
Loila felt that this old guy definitely already knew something! He might even know that the curse and the magic circle were related!
Watching Luna leave quickly, Loila also quickened her pace and ran towards Mr. Lockhart's office.
If she wasn't mistaken, Mr. Riddle's diary must be—must be on Mr. Lockhart!
The so-called curse from the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor doesn't exist at all; it's actually just a magic circle in the diary!
Loila had been feeling unwell ever since she started researching the magic circle—and the discomfort would gradually subside once she stopped researching it—while Mr. Lockhart only began to feel unwell gradually after he lost his diary!
What a coincidence! It must be the magic circle on the diary that caused this, and then for some reason, Mr. Lockhart took the diary away!
The diary he had spent so much time searching for was actually on Mr. Lockhart, whom he met every day! Roy didn't know what to say—he had been so stupid!
If it had been discovered sooner, Mr. Lockhart wouldn't have—wouldn't have fainted!
Loila walked quickly to the door of Mr. Lockhart's office and then pushed it open abruptly.
The wooden door remained stationary.
Loila pursed her lips, took a deep breath, and flicked her wand.
"Bang!"
With a loud bang, she blasted the wooden door open, flicked away the scattered wood chips with her wand, and cleared away the dust with the tip of her wand.
Unfortunately, there was no sign of Mr. Lockhart after the debris—or rather, the entire office was exceptionally clean, and there was nothing there.
Mr. Lockhart, has he already left?
I was a step too late.
But the office was completely empty, as if Mr. Lockhart had absconded! Why was that?!
Loila was filled with doubt, and Mr. Lockhart had already gone home—what should she do?
Loila doesn't know where Lockhart lives, and visiting someone else's house is out of the question! Loila, you need to be brave; you're doing this to save Mr. Lockhart's life!
"Headmaster Dumbledore is not here." At that moment, Luna's message suddenly came through, startling Loila, who then quickly looked down at her communication wristband.
"Headmaster Dumbledore went to a meeting at the Ministry of Magic today and left early this morning."
Dumbledore, why are you nowhere to be found when I need you?!
"But I found a letter that seems to be something Headmaster Dumbledore wanted to send to Mr. Lockhart," Luna's message came again, making Loira pause for a moment.
A letter to Mr. Lockhart?
To Loila's surprise, Luna had already delivered the address of Mr. Lockhart's house that Dumbledore had written in his letter.
"Mr. Lockhart's address is 6 Golden Fairy Road, Kent."
This is—this is Mr. Lockhart's address? How did Dumbledore know he would need this—
he----
Royla instinctively felt a lingering fear; perhaps Dumbledore really had foreseen what would happen—this was truly astounding—
She pursed her lips and gripped her wand tightly—now was not the time to think about this; she had to get her diary back from Mr. Lockhart immediately—otherwise—that magic circle would kill Mr. Lockhart!
Moreover, that magic circle might very well—very likely—not simply drain life force—why would a dead person in a diary need life force?!
The answer was practically obvious! Royla had never felt her mind so clear—it was very likely that Mr. Riddle was planning something—and it might even be related to Voldemort!
Although he was just a petty hoodlum—if I really resurrected him—not to mention how many people would get hurt, Dumbledore would definitely not allow him to stay at Hogwarts!
How am I supposed to see Lord Grindelwald now?!
Loila hurriedly left the office and headed towards the outside of Hogwarts Castle—damn Hogwarts, Apparition isn't allowed—she cursed inwardly as she ran down the corridor.
He also cursed an old man who refused to lift the Anti-Apparition Curse.
However, as she hurried away, she didn't notice Harry, Ron, and Hermione walking down the corridor.
"Professor Hamilton, what's wrong—" Ron scratched his head and said, "She looks like she has something urgent to do?"
"Could they be up to something bad?" Harry subconsciously started thinking in another direction, especially since he thought he had just heard another explosion.
"I'm not going with them," Hermione said, immediately seeing through their thoughts. "You were just put in detention by Professor McGonagall!"
"If we cause trouble again—"
"But she just ran out of Lockhart's office!" Harry glanced in the direction of the office and then at Hermione.
"Go check on Professor Hamilton in his office. Ron and I are going to track him down!" he said quickly. "If we're not back in ten minutes, go tell Headmaster Dumbledore!"
After saying that, Harry glanced at Ron, and the two of them quickly followed Royla.
"Harry!" Hermione tried to stop him, but he was already far away. Helpless, she stomped her foot, grabbed her book, and ran towards Lockhart's office.
