Chapter 12: Dawn
Chapter 12: Dawn
As the morning sun streamed into the tavern room, Loila yawned and slowly got up.
After a brief wash, she changed into the robe she had bought a few days earlier from Madam Malkin's shop and sat down at the table in the room.
There were thick stacks of newspapers on it, newspapers from the past fifty years, all delivered along with books on magic arrays.
Mr. Lupin is such a gentle person!
Thinking this, Loila lowered her head and started reading the newspaper.
Although wizards are not particularly sensitive to time, and the wizarding world does not change drastically in just a few decades, it must be said that a lot happened during the fifty years that Loila was in a coma.
Aside from Lord Grindelwald's temporary setback, there are some other interesting things that happened.
such as……
The 1946 Quidditch World Champion was actually the German Hounds of Handburg... You know, in Loira's memory, this team didn't seem to be a favorite to win the championship.
The Wizarding Secrets Act has not been amended in any way... those guys at the Ministry of Magic.
Dumbledore actually became the First Wizard of Wizengamor! He must have bribed Wizengamor with 500,000 Galleons! And who knows, he might have used some underhanded tricks in his duel with Lord Grindelwald…
After that came Voldemort.
A guy named Voldemort called himself the Dark Lord and then swept across the whole of Britain, attempting to establish his own dark rule.
Not just anyone can call themselves the Dark Lord, okay?
Loila couldn't help but smirk when she saw Voldemort's defeat. "Look," she thought, "even Lord Grindelwald couldn't defeat Dumbledore. Do you think you can?"
For some reason, Royla was actually a little happy to see Dumbledore win.
Wait a minute... But thinking about it carefully, my enemy now is Dumbledore too... If neither Lord Grindelwald nor this Voldemort can defeat him.
Loila's smile faded, and she sighed.
She subconsciously felt a little nervous... She needed to read something lighter to relax... So she picked up a book called "What is a Magic Circle? Listen to Lockhart".
This seems to be one of the few books related to magic arrays in Flourish and Blotts... Of course, this is Mr. Lupin's opinion.
If Loila were to see it... she could only say that this book has absolutely no connection to the magic circle... the only connection would be the title on the cover.
Mr. Lockhart seems to be a well-known wizard... Could it be that the word "magic circle" has acquired a different meaning after fifty years?
But according to Dumbledore, there shouldn't be any... Wait, Dumbledore is an old man, so it's normal that his thinking is out of touch with the times.
As Loila pondered this, she drew on the parchment beside her... She was reviewing the magic array knowledge she had learned before.
A magic circle is composed of ancient magic runes and spells. The ancient magic runes are the main body of the magic circle and act as the core of the circle, while the spells play an auxiliary role, providing support to the ancient magic runes.
Currently, magic array scientists know the meanings of about ten ancient magic runes, each with different functions... including but not limited to energy storage, communication, protection, and teleportation... while there are probably hundreds of ancient magic runes whose meanings are unknown.
Loila already had a thorough understanding of the ten known ancient runes... She picked up a quill and sketched a circle on the parchment.
Then she gently pricked her finger with a quill pen, and using her own blood, she slowly drew an ancient magical script representing energy storage in the center of the magic circle.
The creation of magic circles requires various magical materials, and Veela blood happens to be one of the best... but unfortunately, I'm not a pure-blooded Veela... so my effect as a magic circle pigment isn't optimal...
It has to be said, this kind of mixed-race person is the most tragic... Loira couldn't help but think of Durmstrang again... If it weren't for her pointed ears...
She twitched her ears and patted her face, determined to be serious... This was the great art of magic arrays!
As Loila drew faster and faster, the magic circle on the parchment became more and more complete.
Finally, with a gentle tap of Loila's quill pen, a complete and perfect energy storage magic circle was drawn.
This magic circle can continuously draw magic power from the air to replenish itself; it is the basic magic circle required for all magic circle props...
Seeing the magic circle emitting a faint blue light, Loila smiled with satisfaction.
I haven't forgotten after all... Let's strike while the iron is hot and do it again...
"Bang bang bang!"
Suddenly, there was a knock on her door, which startled her so much that she almost fell off her chair.
"Miss Hamilton." The person outside the door was none other than the gentle Mr. Lupin: "I need to speak with you about something."
Since his trip to Diagon Alley a few days ago, aside from bringing these books a few days ago, Lupin hasn't been here again.
Now that he has arrived suddenly, Loila is instinctively a little nervous.
Could it be that Dumbledore is following behind him?
After carefully glancing around to make sure she didn't see Dumbledore, she pursed her lips and said, "Please come in... Mr. Lupin." As she spoke, she pulled up her hood to cover her pointed ears and silver hair.
She's still not used to showing them.
"Did I disturb your rest?" Lupin peeked out and asked softly. After confirming that Loila was indeed up, he nodded gently and walked in.
"No." Loila forced a smile. Mr. Lupin was her first and only friend. How could a friend's visit be considered a disturbance?
Even at midnight, Loila would force herself to stay awake and sit up.
"That's good." Lupin, unaware of Loila's thoughts, nodded slightly and then looked at the blue glowing object on the table.
"This is..." Lupin realized what was happening as soon as he opened his mouth and quickly shut it.
But Loila had already heard Lupin's question, and she immediately excitedly held up the magic circle, saying, "Mr. Lupin, this is a magic circle I just drew! It's an energy storage magic circle; it can absorb..."
"Ahem, wait a minute, Miss Hamilton!" Lupin quickly interrupted Loila. He really didn't understand magic circles at all. After receiving the book on magic circles written by Lockhart, he had casually flipped through it, thinking about whether he should learn it.
Unfortunately... Lupin just couldn't muster any interest in that book... so he quickly interrupted Loila to prevent this lady, who was so eager to "preach," from wasting her breath.
As he spoke, he quickly took out something he had been hiding behind his back.
It was a cage covered with a black cloth.
"What...is this?" Loila stared blankly at the covered object in front of her for a moment, then put down the magic circle diagram in her hand.
"A gift for you." Lupin smiled gently and casually pulled back the black cloth to reveal what was inside.
