Chapter 53 Change, Poachers
Chapter 53 Change, Poachers
Ginny woke up that night, and Ron, who had been by her side, naturally learned everything. The next day, he joined the morning run. When he saw Owen, he opened his mouth, but Owen's gentle smile silenced his apology.
There's nothing wrong with risking your life for your cherished family, but the mistake lies in not having the corresponding strength.
This conflict can be said to have been an epiphany for Ron. He gave up his beloved wizard chess and spent his free time either memorizing spells or potion recipes.
What surprised Hermione the most was that Ron persisted for an exceptionally long time this time, for ten consecutive days, rain or shine, and he seemed to be enjoying it.
With his friend starting to cheer up, Harry was left to investigate the Chamber of Secrets alone. As for how Dumbledore would proceed, that was no longer Owen's concern. Recently, after answering questions at dinner, Owen would stay in Hagrid's hut until after dark before heading into the Forbidden Forest with Hagrid.
It wasn't to gather herbs or obtain any materials, but Hagrid discovered unfamiliar footprints in the Forbidden Forest and suspected that someone was trying to sneak into the Forbidden Forest to poach!
This was no small matter, but without concrete evidence, he couldn't report it to the professors, so Hagrid had to ask Irving for help.
Fortunately, Irving generously agreed. He didn't come alone; Big Cat and Little White were with him too.
"Do you think the footprints Hagrid found were left by me?"
"Meow."
"You're right, I flew in, so I shouldn't have left any footprints. Okay, let's take a look around. If we don't find anything, we'll go back to sleep."
As soon as he finished speaking, Little White soared into the sky, Molly vanished instantly, and Owen slowly floated up, drifting leisurely in one direction.
The Forbidden Forest holds many secrets. Giant spiders and centaurs only roam the outer edges. Occasionally, unicorns will come out for a stroll, but after Quirrell and Voldemort's sneak attack last year, the number of unicorns has decreased.
So, those who come to the Forbidden Forest to poach are either after the giant spider or the unicorn. The former are numerous; even if there are only a few dozen or a hundred, they won't be discovered. The latter are more valuable; you should know that even the tail hairs of a unicorn are charged per hair, not to mention the other parts of its body.
As for centaurs... they are quite valuable, but I can't say why they are valuable, or it will easily result in a 404 error.
After flying for less than half an hour, Owen suddenly stopped. He slowly descended from the air, took out his small magic wand, and said, "Gentlemen, would you like me to invite you out?"
The air was quite quiet, and no one came out.
But Owen laughed and said, "Stop hiding. The trees you're hiding under have grouse, but they were scared away by your presence. And you're not deaf, are you? Didn't you notice that there isn't a single insect chirping in this area?"
One, two, three...
Seeing that everyone was hiding their faces with their hoods, Irving chuckled again: "You still have some shame? That's rare. But there's one more person. Have you forgotten what I just said, that you scared away the Bowtruckle? Hiding like this is no fun."
Sure enough, another one came out... a total of four poachers, all of them were there.
"Hogwarts, are you now using students to manage the Forbidden Forest? But I must say, you're really brave."
The voice was hoarse and metallic, clearly deliberately altered. Owen wasn't in a hurry. He watched as the other person slowly moved, trying to surround him, but remained motionless: "I'm quite curious, what are you here to poach? If you're an eight-eyed giant spider or a centaur, I can pretend I didn't see you..."
"Heh heh, little guy, you're too naive. Do it!"
The four of them raised their wands at the same time, but they were still a little slow because Owen could cast spells silently. As soon as they raised their wands, two Petrify spells were launched. He himself moved to the left and back, but he only took one step before an earthen wall rose up from his feet, lifting him into the air.
The spells missed, Owen missed his opponent, and the opponent's spells missed Owen as well. But this battle wasn't turn-based; it wasn't a back-and-forth exchange. So, the magical light never stopped after it appeared. Owen was casting spells with both hands simultaneously, but his right hand, which wasn't holding a wand, was casting small, evil curses, like the Tooth-in-a-Big-Stick Curse and the Leg-Locking Curse, which were fast and accurate. His left hand, which held the wand, was casting Exterminate or using Polymorph to position himself in advantageous positions so that the opponent's spells wouldn't hit him.
Owen's agile movement and imaginative shapeshifting abilities actually prevented him from being hit by a single spell while surrounded by the four.
Owen originally wanted to play a little longer, but when he saw green sparks appearing on the tip of someone's wand, he knew he couldn't play anymore.
He dared not directly confront the Killing Curse now.
"Extremely painful!"
He wouldn't kill anyone, but as long as he could catch the person, that would be fine. So when Owen used the Unforgivable Curse, he felt no burden at all.
"ah!!!"
That Crucifix was incredibly vicious, landing directly on one person's heel. That's the beauty of the Crucifix; it doesn't necessarily have to hit a specific spot. As long as it hits the body, the effect won't be diminished at all.
"Walk!"
Four against one, and one of them was even killed in the counterattack. At this point, the poachers finally realized that something was wrong. However, when they were about to use Shadow Shift to escape, they found that the spell they cast had not worked.
"A counter-spell? When...?"
"When I found you," Owen's voice was a little loud. He had already flown up the tree, while the other person who had gone to help the one with the curse was now lying on the ground, not even able to scream.
He wasn't under a spell; rather, Owen seized the opportunity to get close and delivered a full-force right hook...
Magic and physical attacks combined, maxed out!
They couldn't fight anymore. With two people already lost, the remaining poachers had lost all will to live. Without even discussing it, they prepared to run away separately, one to the left and one to the right. But the one running to the right, as soon as he turned around, saw a pair of purple cat eyes and instantly entered an illusion. Meanwhile, Owen lightly waved his wand and turned a stone into a trap, which caught the other person's foot.
Just as the opponent was about to break the spell, a beam of white light descended from the sky, and Little White landed directly on the opponent's face. The powerful acceleration due to its weight... he might become the most seriously injured among his accomplices.
