Chapter 748 Travel
Chapter 748 Travel
The shadowy watchers had been hunkering down for a long time, their eyes fixed on He Yuzhu's home, yet a sense of strangeness lingered in their hearts. They meticulously checked everything from He Yuzhu's daily routine to his interactions with others, but they couldn't find any concrete abnormalities, not even a shred of convincing evidence. They knew it all too well. If they went back to Li Jianguo and told him something was amiss, it would likely be dismissed as nonsense. Not only would it be ineffective, but they might even get a reprimand. They could only suppress their doubts and continue their relentless watch, not daring to let up even a little.
He Yuzhu was sitting in the yard with a cup of tea, seemingly basking in the sun leisurely, but he had a plan in mind. The fourth brother hadn't contacted him in the past few days, most likely because he was being closely watched outside and it was inconvenient for him to show up. But he couldn't just stay at home and wait passively, he had to think of a way to divert these spies and make some space for the fourth brother. He turned to look at Ma Xiuxiu who was picking vegetables, a smile spread across his face, and asked: "Xiuxiu, do you want to go out for a trip? Let's take this opportunity to relax."
Ma Xiuxiu paused for a moment, looked up with some surprise and hesitation, and said, "Brother Zhuzi, this is a good idea, but the children still have to go to school. They need to be with us all day. How can we leave?"
He Yuzhu glanced at Xiaoli, who was sitting next to him playing with the child, and deliberately raised his voice a little: "This time we're going to have some time for ourselves, without the children. We still have Xiaoli at home, so we can let her help look after the children, it will be no problem."
Upon hearing this, Xiaoli immediately put down the toy in her hand, pouted, and glared at He Yuzhu with an unhappy look on her face: "He Yuzhu, what you said is so mean! I followed you here, and every day I'm either babysitting or doing odd jobs at home. I haven't had a good time out. And you guys are going out to have fun without taking me with you. How can you be so embarrassed?"
He Yuzhu suppressed a smile and deliberately put on a stern face: "We are just the two of us. Is it appropriate for a little girl like you to follow us?" As he spoke, he glanced calmly in the direction of the courtyard wall and added, "Besides, Xiaoli, the children need someone to look after them. This is a serious matter. You can't just ignore it, right?"
How could Xiaoli not understand his intentions? He was simply asking her to stay and protect the child, while he used the excuse of traveling to lure away those who were watching him, perhaps even letting their guard down and revealing some flaws. She deliberately snorted heavily, pretending to be reluctant to compromise: "Alright, alright, I get it! You guys have your own little world! But let's make it clear, you owe me a trip, and you have to make it up later. And I have to choose the place, you understand?"
"No problem, I promise to make it up!" He Yuzhu nodded quickly and turned to ask Ma Xiuxiu, "Xiuxiu, where do you want to go? How about we go to the south? You seldom go there before, so it's a good opportunity to visit the water towns in the south of the Yangtze River and see some different scenery."
Ma Xiuxiu looked at the expectation in his eyes and smiled gently: "Brother Zhuzi, you are the head of the family, just make the decision, I will listen to you."
The matter was settled. He Yuzhu immediately stood up and went to find Ma Hua, asking him to buy a ticket to the south. Since Ma Hua was watching over the hotel recently, there was nothing important to do. He took this opportunity to take Ma Xiuxiu out for a walk, to see the beautiful scenery of the motherland, and to make up for the debt he had owed her over the years.
The leader of the group, watching from the shadows, saw they were truly planning a long journey, even having the shop assistants buy their tickets, and he immediately became concerned. Keeping tabs on them in this familiar territory was manageable, but once they left, into the unfamiliar south, with the bumpy train ride and the crowds of people watching, keeping up would be difficult. A single mistake would mean losing them. He didn't dare delay, immediately telling those around him, "Keep a close eye on them, and make sure nothing goes wrong," and then he hurried off to report to Li Jianguo. This was a serious matter, and he had to consult his superiors for instructions on how to proceed: whether to continue following them or make other plans.
Li Jianguo stared at the direction He Yuzhu left, frowning, thinking to himself: "He Yuzhu, this kid, wants to go to the south for no reason. There must be something wrong here. The north is so big, isn't it enough for him to stay? He has to run so far, probably to avoid something."
He turned around and looked at the men who were in charge of surveillance. His tone was filled with unquestionable majesty. "Remember, wherever he goes, you must follow him. Never leave his side. I'll give you a certificate. If anyone stops you on the road and asks about your identity, show this. I'll guarantee you'll be fine."
The subordinate nodded quickly in agreement, then hesitated for a moment before asking, "So this time...how many people should I bring? A few more people will help take care of things."
Li Jianguo waved his hand. "The higher-ups are already keeping an eye on this, so don't make too much noise. This time, you'll have to act alone and follow quietly. Focus on finding out what he's planning to do in the south. Also, recall all those people who were watching his family. Don't alert them."
The surveillance officer was extremely reluctant. Acting alone was risky, and if anything went wrong, there wouldn't be anyone to look after them. But seeing Li Jianguo's serious expression, he swallowed his words and had no choice but to agree.
Li Jianguo walked to the window, looked at the street in the distance, and whispered to himself, "He Yuzhu, do you really think you can do this without anyone noticing? I don't believe you have no flaws at all. Just wait, sooner or later I'll find your weakness, and then we'll see if you can still be stubborn and refuse to tell the truth."
He was constantly worried - he had clearly sent many experts to his son's side, so why was there no movement at all? This only made him feel that He Yuzhu was hiding an unusual secret.
Elsewhere, He Yuzhu clutched the train ticket Ma Hua had helped him buy and was about to leave. He'd been observing quietly for the past few days, and while he felt the shadowy presence around the house had receded, he couldn't relax. Who knew if they'd adopted a more subtle approach?
He Yuzhu and Ma Xiuxiu packed their belongings and boarded the train southward, one after the other. The train slowly began to move, the scenery outside the window gradually receding. A few rows behind them, the man assigned to follow them lowered his head, pretending to read a newspaper, but his eyes never left He Yuzhu's seat. He knew this mission couldn't afford any mistakes; he had to conceal himself and not reveal his whereabouts.
